colocation servers : client will have physical access to the servers.
Dedicated servers : Client will have remote access to the servers .
Other than this what is the difference?

One difference with colocation is the handling of customer equipment, where they are the owner, for example keeping spare stock for customers and receiving shipments. It's important to guarantee safety of their equipment because you will be fully liable for it.

Ensure that your dedicated server is a physical machine too. Be aware of some companies selling VM's and passing them off as dedicated servers. While this may be true that they are dedicated, it's more of a glorified VPS. Depending on how the machine is configured, you may be sharing resources (I/O, cores, etc.) or they may be dedicated to yourself.

I found out the hard way about one company after dropping PEER1.

The primary reason a business chooses Colocation is its need for specific hardware. Colocation is best for those businesses in a position to invest money in the hardware required to build a server (or even buy an off-the-shelf build). The business pays for the up-front cost of the server and spare parts and upgrades for the future but ends up with lower monthly costs in the long run.

A Dedicated Server requires no up-front cost for hardware purchase, nor a fee for maintenance or parts replacement. Smaller businesses benefit most from Dedicated Servers as they require far less in-house IT expertise than Colocation.

Colocation server:
Colocation means that the server is physically located with the company using it. Many people use colocation servers to host their websites or application. These servers are located in a data center and offer high-speed internet and space for your computer. They also come with powerful security features that make it difficult for hackers to access your computer.

Dedicated server:
Dedicated means that the server is owned by a separate company and is not shared with other companies. One reason to choose dedicated server is security. A dedicated server is not affected by viruses or malware that can infect other computers in a network. It also provides more stability and reliability because it's unlikely to be down for long periods.

Dedicated servers are also more expensive than colocation servers, but they're worth the extra cost. You can choose a dedicated server if you need to maximize your security and privacy.
