After lurking on NamePros for the past ~4 years... I've finally made a sale that I'm extremely proud of.

I purchased this seven-letter-keyword .xyz back in the summer of 2019 for ~$300 with the intentions of developing it into a social-network-style website. Hard to believe I was a freshman in college. Fast forward 4 years, and for the past couple months I've been getting tons of offers for it on DAN.com. After doing a little background check on one of the more serious offers I received, I find that this person is a majority owner of a content creator subscription service. They threw a solid offer to begin with, but I politely declined. After waiting a month, I sent one last message saying that I'm still open offers (just higher ones, lol).

No less than 2 hours later, they offered $50,000. I contemplated using the brokerage service that is integrated with DAN.com, but I opted to negotiate myself because the 20% brokerage fee on top of DAN.com's 9% transaction fee seems absolutely absurd. I counter with $150,000, and we go back-n-fourth a few times before basically settling in the middle of where we started. Yesterday, it was the 5th highest .xyz sale according to NameBio.com, but I see that Swetha has done it again with the sale of wrap.xyz... so now my sale is the 6th highest .xyz sale. ;)

I'm unsure about the etiquette of revealing the buyer, domain name, and the exact sale price... but if it's appropriate, I'm happy to share the details.

I'd like to say thanks to the NamPros community for teaching me over the past 4 years, and also to @DNGear for showing everyone the true value of .xyz domain names.

I cant believe people.downvote when I say its dumb to.buy xyz for 100k when io etc is.at 18k... and at same time everyone here would buy at 18k

what was that word again...hypocrites?
I don't mind discussion on topics, but the anonymous downvotes are annoying. Engage if you have something to say.

I will just offset the downvotes. I got you back to 0.

I dont understand some of this activity either of down voting.
That .COM, .co and .io are available for sale and yet a buyer pays 6 figures for the .xyz ...ok, isn't that interesting that xyz is able to do this? Thats Great! I hold a three letter dictionary word xyz and hope I hit the jackpot also lol.. what synonym could/should I use to express this activity without getting downgraded? (I guess the downgrader does not find it interesting) ..wow might as well not write around here.

Congrats on achieving a rare status - selling a domain in ANY extension for six-figures.
Less than 10% of speculators will ever do so.

Less than 1%.

Great name. Great sale.

I would not place .co and .io next to .com. To me, they are absolute garbage. Any extension can compete for the next place after .com. .io is liked by developers like me, but I would never launch a public facing service on it. If you are not a company targeting Colombian users, .co will always be a misspell of .com to the public.
People trying to rate .co/.io extensions higher than .xyz or any other extension for the common public is absolutely brain dead people. There's not enough exposure of .co/.io sites to the common mass to justify their superiority. .Net and .Org are known to more people than your favorite tiny wannabe extensions.

well yes but u and me we dont decide what sells. so if u wanna sell u will follow what namebio says..u will love co and io..spit on org and net... rather than.follow our preferences or opinions on what should sell.and why.

u will.do that and sell or not.do it and not sell

this isn't like...debatable. and frankly a nobrainer too..cheers

What is the annual renewal fee for Profile(.xyz) ?
Domain transfer for this domain shows the lowest pricing tier for .xyz (about $9.31).

Correct, it had regular renewal fees (~$9, no premiums)... very nice for such a keyword.
Yep. That appears to be the secret sauce, owning sellable terms with standard registration.

You can really see how little demand there is even for top quality terms with premium renewals attached.
Unless you are the registry itself, those are generally a liability more than an asset.
