This morning, I got an email from my registrar, that one .love domain in my portfolio was successfully transferred out. However, I did not initiate a transfer-out for this domain.

Checking whois, I noticed that the new Registrar is now the Registry (CentralNic), with special Registrar IANA ID: 9999. I wrote a ticket to my registrar, and asked what could be the problem. Later, I found out that (all?) other .love domains (not mine, and registered at other registrars) now also have this 9999 ID.

Anyone knows what's happening at this TLD today? Is there a glitch? Or did the TLD become defunct or obsolete? I checked, and it's still possible to register a .love domain at major registrars.

Registrar: CentralNic
Registrar IANA ID: 9999
Domain Status: serverTransferProhibited https://icann.org/epp#serverTransferProhibited
Domain Status: serverUpdateProhibited https://icann.org/epp#serverUpdateProhibited
Domain Status: serverDeleteProhibited https://icann.org/epp#serverDeleteProhibited
Domain Status: serverRenewProhibited https://icann.org/epp#serverRenewProhibited
Domain Status: clientTransferProhibited https://icann.org/epp#clientTransferProhibited
Domain Status: clientDeleteProhibited https://icann.org/epp#clientDeleteProhibited

That is odd. It sure sounds like some type of registry action considering the "9999" status and the server holds. That is something done at a registry level -

Domain Status: serverTransferProhibited
Domain Status: serverUpdateProhibited
Domain Status: serverDeleteProhibited
Domain Status: serverRenewProhibited

I would .love to know more about what happened here.

If you look at the registry domain, something was done this morning to update the status.

I am wondering if some other domains got caught up in whatever this update was.

Domain Name: GET.LOVE
Registrar WHOIS Server:
Updated Date: 2022-03-31T02:55:55.0Z
Creation Date: 2015-05-06T10:39:53.0Z
Registry Expiry Date: 2022-05-06T23:59:59.0Z
Registrar: CentralNic
Registrar IANA ID: 9999

Domain Status: serverTransferProhibited
Domain Status: serverUpdateProhibited
Domain Status: serverDeleteProhibited
Domain Status: serverRenewProhibited

Can you DM the domain if possible?

Brad

I have 2 .LOVE domains with Porkbun and Dynadot - the same issue on both.
Now you can't even change nameservers, today .LOVE domains were disconnected from their registrars at all.
2 tickets sent...

Thanks. I've just made CentralNic aware of this issue as well.

@Porkbun Support gave a reply:

"We're very sorry about the scare. Your domains are safe! The .love TLD is undergoing a migration from the CentralNic registry to the Tucows registry. CentralNic updated the domains in a way that made it appear as though a change of registrar had occurred. This is not the case. Once the migration is complete your .love domains will return to your account."

Current whois status for a registered domain:

Domain Name: (redacted).love

>>> This name is not available for registration:

>>> TLD not yet available

>>> Last update of WHOIS database: 2022-03-31T16:13:03.844Z <<<

Received the a transfer out notification from my two .love domains too. Reached out to my registrar support team. Glad to know I’m not the only one. I thought I was hacked!

Edit: Just read the reply. Thanks @Future Sensors

Whois now works and has the correct information with the right Registrar IANA ID.

The domain is starting to appear in my registrar account again (welcome back my love).

Not completely finished, but it looks good.
