Quick shout to Paul Nicks, Joe Styler, Alan Shifflet.

A transaction involving BTC was in process today. The domain was at Godaddy and was subject to a 60-day transfer lock. For those not aware, registrars have some flexibility on whether to enforce the 60-day lock. They do this largely based on their own risk assessments as to whether a domain is free and clear to move.

In this particular case, I made an appeal to some of our friends at Godaddy on behalf of the seller in order to get this domain free to move. The buyer did not want an encumbered name since they were buying with BTC. It needed to be cash and carry. The transaction was at risk of going sideways over this issue of the transfer-lock.

As big as Godaddy is, I greatly appreciate that there is a human side to their operation that is capable of pragmatically solving issues that impact our industry overcoming policy barriers that interfere with the business of domaining. That is what makes this job worthwhile.

Thanks to Greg Silvius at Godaddy in Premier Services for making it happen today on a multi-party transaction as much of the Godaddy team heads out for the July 4th holiday. Super-helpful. No-nonsense.
