If you're creating a social media account/page for your domain (example.com)
What's the best option for a username:
  • @example_com
  • @exampleCom
  • @exampledotCom

(note: @Example isn't available and dots aren't always allowed in usernames)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
From a branding perspective — none of these.

Depending on the context:

@GetExample
@GoExample
@ExampleCo

Location based:

@ExampleUK
@ExampleNYC

More serious/professional niches:

@ExampleLLC
@ExampleINC

When I helped brands establish a media presence, it always started with multiple social channels to reduce clutter and forward to the proper team:

@ExampleOfficial
@ExampleNews
@ExampleSupport

Always use the same handle on all social. This means checking availability on all main networks, as well as not using underscores, dashes, or periods.

Add the descriptor your company uses, like ExampleMag, ExampleConsulting, ExampleServices etc.

Would rather go with

@Example_

Real life example: @libra_ (Facebook's Libra on Twitter)

This is good question..

Community thoughts for sure help in understanding how they identify and saw something like this before..

I voted for "ExampleDotCom"

I think if it is a service/product related...

ExampleOnline
ExampleSupport etc can be more reasonable...

If it's personal username and still you want to identify yourself with your web presence...then ExampleDotCom can be fit for the needs.

I saw many usernames of services and products in this format and I am sure it is well identified by consumers and easy to reach.

Just my thoughts from my experiences.

Good luck,
Ravi

If you are a company or brand. I prefer you to use the whole name without any other characters.
If the user name is already taken, you can add a secondary keyword.
The username must be short and easy to remember.
You can use free tools for suggestions.

Social media handles are similar to public email. If you don't get your own name as email. You use many other crazy suffixes. But, the one I think is good are: Use 'co', 'cctld', 'org', 'net', etc.
