Having relatives and friends scattered all over the globe, I am getting an overload of input (some on the record and some off the record).

My intention for this thread is for community members from around the world to post first hand stories and/or links to information sources that, for the most part, should be reliable.

In my community, just outside a major southeastern city, 'assets' have been placed. Only because I have friends in both high and low places have I heard about some of this. At this point it is only some basic medical supplies that should be equally distributed anyway in preparation for a natural emergency (hurricane/wildfire/etc.).

I will start with posting a link to a site with current data that seems to come from an aggregate of sources and hope others will do the same as they come across similar sites/pages.

Because of the 'typhoid Mary' spread-ability of this disease, I feel we may be in for a really large spread globally which will impact the global economy and through extension, retail domain prices.

One thing is for sure...things will get worse before they get better.

AP FACT CHECK: Trump hype on auto industry and ventilators

President Donald Trump is falsely asserting how quickly automakers including GM, Ford and Tesla can manufacture ventilators to help fill an acute U.S. shortage of the medical equipment for coronavirus patients.

Ford and GM have yet to start production, and it would take them months, if not longer, to begin production, if it's even possible.

Trump, on addressing a shortage of ventilators: “General Motors, Ford, so many companies — I had three calls yesterday directly, without having to institute like: `You will do this’ — these companies are making them right now.” — briefing Saturday.

THE FACTS: No automaker is anywhere close to making medical gear such as ventilators and remain months away — if not longer. Nor do the car companies need the president’s permission to move forward.

Neither GM or Ford is building ventilators at present, while Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted Friday that his company was “working on ventilators" but he didn’t specify how long it might take. His tweets also questioned the need and said it couldn't be done immediately.

GM announced on Friday that it is working with ventilator maker Ventec Life Systems to ramp up production. The automaker said it would help with logistics, purchasing and manufacturing, but stopped short of saying it would make ventilators in its own factories, which have been idled for two weeks after workers who'd been fearful of the contagion put pressure on the company.

Ford, which also suspended factory production along with other automakers with operations in North America, confirmed that it too was in discussions with the Trump administration about helping, but had not started.

“We’re looking at feasibility,” Ford spokesman T.R. Reid said. “It may be possible, but it’s not you go from Rangers (small pickups) one day to ventilators the next. We’re figuring out what is possible now.”

The word "FACT" check doesn't mean it's true. It means their sharing a bias "OPINION" they believe to be true.

Italian mayor says coronavirus death toll probably several times higher than official reports

The mayor of Bergamo, a city in northern Italy devastated by coronavirus, said on Monday that the actual death toll from the pandemic is likely several times higher than official count.

Giorgio Gori told NBC News on Monday that the total deaths in Bergamo are three to four times higher than during an average year, signaling that the virus is killing many more people than medical authorities have reported.

"We [have] evidence now in our territories that many people are unfortunately dying in their homes or in the residence for [seniors]," Gori said via Skype. "They are not officially tested because the test is only for people that go to the hospital with serious symptoms."

Bergamo is in Lombardy, Italy's most affected region with 27,206 cases and 3,456 deaths reported since the outbreak began.

fed says not to worry about atms, banks.. cause we got "an infinite amount of cash" at the fed... as in.. we can print it into infinity.

meanwhile, its becoming obvious to all, that the "cure" to the virus, is becoming 1000 more dangerous for all, than the problem itself.. isolations, quaranties, businesses shutting down and going bankrupt.. if this keeps up, then the consequences of all this will be 1000 times worse than the virus.

hope the governments wake up. and if they do not, then at least we will know using virus to destroy humanity on all levels, was their goal from the beginning.

meanwhile in hungary... a bill may pass .. up to 5 yrs in prison for spreading fake news or rumors....

Didn't have time to read the whole article, but with distant family members being associated with GM several years and myself owning their stock for decades, simple fact checks will show they/subsidiary made most of the parts for a type of ventilator years ago. That machinery has been mothballed since. Now, whether it can be used to make 'modern' equipment that can be used during this crisis, I do not know.

Remote islands swamped by people trying to escape virus

With many people facing weeks largely confined to their homes in densely populated cities because of coronavirus, it's understandable that some have considered heading to more remote places in pursuit of freedom and fresh air.

But as recreational vehicles and other traffic have flooded into some of these rural destinations, those living there have reacted with alarm — urging people to stay away to avoid bringing infection and overwhelming limited health provisions.

The situation has been particularly acute in the Highlands region of Scotland, a largely unpopulated area whose rugged landscapes of mountains and islands is one of the most beautiful tourism attractions in the UK. So much so that local officials are issuing warnings, telling people — including second homeowners — they are not welcome.

Spoon fed? That's not very smart! Is that the normal Orthodox way of doing it?
I don't know. I'm not Orthodox and I'm not from Serbia either.
But I agree with you, it is currently very risky.

I don't know what city that is but the stores around me set a 2 per person limit on paper towel and toilet paper. I don't get what these idiots are going to do with a bunch of toilet paper and paper towel. They must think it is going to protect them from the virus.
I'm willing to bet that the availability of toilet paper will come back to normal in a week or two the most. Then these idiots will be left with all those rolls that they can serve for breakfast...

Today I went to my local supermarket to buy some rice that my wife and I had forgotten to buy a week ago. Plenty of rice available and plenty of toilet paper. Only yogurts had been sold out, everything else... shelves are full!

They only allow 5-10 people to go in after 5-10 have gone out. No confusions.

Hopefully so. But probably will depend a lot on the area.... as long as there's a hot market for it on eBay, people will continue clearing the shelves to re-sell it. One page of "sold" listings covers just 15 minutes right now....... Going FAST!

This is a long article, but very readable. It clearly outlines what must be done to mitigate the spread health wise, and to take steps to heal the economy. While from the US perspective, much can be applied in other countries. I had not thought clearly before reading this was the strong measures in the province in China, to halt the spread to other parts of the country to some degree, allowed the ongoing economy in the other parts, to provide the needed aid, financial and health, to the virus area. The writer makes the argument that the same will need to help in America, with some more remote areas, if we can keep them healthy, helping to prop up New York and Seattle.

Possibly 1000's, Military should stop any boarder crossing IMO.
The Greek Police and Military have been pushing them back from entering the Greek border, for over a month now.

The problem is that the Turkish President Erdogan decided to transport and bus hundreds of thousands of refugees from refugee camps in their Southern border with Syria, to the northern border with Greece and ordered them to enter Greece illegally.

Some say that it could be related to the Coronavirus, whereby he is trying to get rid of all these refugees, because some of them had contracted the virus in the refugee camps and now he wants to dump them in Greece and eventually the rest of Europe.

Can't trust the Turkish Government!
