Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

@411domains I mentioned this issue back on page 34 which was 2 weeks ago. They did send a private message. But I have just found more and more domains since that time. The problems keep getting worse.

The portfolio overview now incorrectly states that the .com TLD is not eligible for fast transfer. It is probably trying to say something about the 60-day period, but that is not what it says with "TLD Not Eligible".

I've dealt with this many times over the years and it's something I specifically check for on each export.

Standard workarounds are effective in resolving this quickly.

The easiest for me was making a minor adjustment to the minimun offer.

Did they at least look into it or pass the buck to DAN?

I'm looking at thousands of names added to Afternic between last week and today and there isn't a single auction feed for any of them. (This is just my portfolio.)

Fortunately, most of mine are Fast Transfer Active. Which means they are actively listed and showing as such. However, the rest...it's disappointing to say the very least.

I also tested other recently added names and it's the same story.

The Afternic agents with whom I spoke were able to duplicate it.

Afternic's Commitment to Listing Integrity: Response to a Recent Event
Sorry to read this... it cannot really solve Afternic/Dan major problem with fake listings. All what I can think about is an old Greek proveb: The mountain that labored and brought forth a mouse :(

Afternic:

Can you simplfy removal of fake listings on Dan for domain owners already verified on Aftternic?

My domains ae listed on Afternic through the direct Dynadot-Afternic marketplace interface. This week, I realized that varous sellers have posted about 2/3 of my domains on Dan. They did so without my permission, and are trying to sell them at much higher prices compared to the real Afternic listings.

Is it really necessary to add a txt or NS3 to prove oiwnership, when the direct registrar marketplace connection with Dynadot is present? Afternic customer service has agreed to help remove the fake Dan listings, but requested verification. Well, I'm listed and verified through Afternic, so why is that necessary?

Also, is this a routine problem for anyone who posts a domain with Afternic but not Dan? The fake Dan listings were previously removed. I had stopped using Afternic and Dan for a while. After relisting with Afternic, I was surprised that new, fraudulent Dan listings showed up.

We need Chat support feature on Afternic dashboard like dan.com.
and more co-operation internally with GoDaddy back office.

GoDaddy auction and Afternic is not integrated properly.

Hi @411domains

Thanks. I've just tested this, and it didn't change the incorrect "TLD Not Eligible" message for .com domains.

I actually ran into this issue for the first time since the Afternic classic version was removed and it seems some of the old workarounds are no longer effective.

I was able to resolve it by deleting and re-adding it.

An account-related thing got hosed up with the switch from Afternic "classic" to the new version is that up until a month or so ago it used to correctly show me as an Afternic member since Jun, 2004.

Since the switch-over it shows Jun, 2016. I have no idea why they've chosen that date as I had sold my first domain on the original Afternic back in July 2004.

It appears that, by not adding obligatory ownership verification (DNS/TXT) for any and all domains one is trying to add, Afternic either:

1) Confirms that they like and appreciate the scammers. Indeed, while most domains would not be (successfully) sold, some will be sold and delivered should the scammer be able to acquire the domain they listed afternic Afternic secured the payment --> more commission $$$ to Afternic. /* excluding instant transfer sales where the real owner mistakenly approved fast transfer (would be another story) */.

2) Confirms that Afternic engineering team is unable to manage the system (is adding DNS/TXT verification that hard from technical point of view?)

Am I missing anything here?
I'm in the US. I reported @GoDaddy @DAN.COM and Afternic in a complaint with the FTC. I recommend anyone else to do the same.

https : //reportfraud . ftc . gov/ (remove spaces)

To fix this problem, it's as easy as requiring verification BEFORE a domain can be listed on the marketplace(s). They are choosing not to do this because they believe it gives them a positive business position.

"Listing integrity is something we take seriously."
^ Oh yeah... OK.

Hi @Future Sensors,
This is something we're currently reviewing with a view to changing that language. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

We need Chat support feature on Afternic dashboard like dan.com.
and more co-operation internally with GoDaddy back office.

GoDaddy auction and Afternic is not integrated properly.
Hi @skh23114,
Thanks for your feedback. Integrations with GoDadyd Auctions and Afternic will be investigated throughout 2024. Currently, for Afternic, support can be found at https://www.afternic.com/contact-afternic, where there are US-based and International phone numbers to chat with our team directly.

Unfortunately, lately, I have found that the Afternic phone numbers weren't working. Instead, they indicated the need ro use the online contact.

Would you kindly provide and answer to my previous question? If a domain is listed on Afternic directly through one"s registrar (in this case Dynadot), is there any further need for verification?

Much like you, I've been with Afternic longer than most, if not all Afternic employess, yet it shows the same date for me.

Very strange.

Hi @411domains

Good to hear that such a workaround worked for you. Still, Afternic needs to fix this.

@Future Sensors - I agree 100%! They need to fix this.

Scratch what I said about standard workarounds being effective in resolving this.

This is no longer the case in the "Upgraded Experience" version of Afternic.

Since I posted that reply, I have ran into this issue at least a dozen times thus giving me plenty of options to test all workarounds. (Individually & combined.)

Conclusion: Until they resolve the issue, deleting and re-adding is now the only effective workaround for those who wish to achieve Fast Transfer Active status on domains plagued by this issue.

Sadly, it takes longer to update in the "Upgraded Experience," whereas the update was instant in the classic version, but it's effective.

Question - when I export my domains from aftenric, the sales lander indicates its set to request price but when i enter the domain directly, it takes me straight to a buy now set up at dan. does that mean then that the lander will indicate request price while at afternic but not at dan?

Do your Afternic lead center also shows old leads from previous domain owners? This is the second time when I see a lead in my afternic lead center from a time when I didn't own this domain (for example: Date Initiated 2022-01-24) What's going on?

That's a good thing, wouldn't you agree? I sold a domain for $5k thanks to an old lead from before I owned it.

Hi @LoveCatchyDomains
Afternic has an integration with Dynadot through List for Sale - this allows customers there to directly list their domains for sale at Afternic without visiting Afternic.com directly.

Dan.com doesn't have the same relationship with Dynadot or other registrars. Listings at Dan.com and Afternic are also entirely separate - except for Dan.com's distribution network integration for Buy it Now listings. Therefore, your domain listings at Dan.com should be resolved through NS3 or TXT verification.

Hi @LH1
Your Sale Lander column indicated the lander setting for domain names pointed to Afternic nameservers (e.g ns1.afternic.com). If your domains are pointed to other nameservers (e.g ns1.dan.com), then our interface will not reflect that.

I was just wondering if working with a prehistoric lead have sense. As I see it has. Great to read this! Thanks.

In my account it shows when an old lead is assigned to a 'new' broker.

This is a good idea since budgets, personnel, etc. can change over time. However, in my case, I find that almost one fourth of the newly assigned brokers never reach out to 'old' lead. This is the downside to a marketplace not sharing contact info with the domain owner.

Afternic (and other marketplaces that hold email, name, phone and IP address private) should eventually share that information with the account holder...especially if the 'new' broker does not take the time to email or call the lead.
