I've been out of the industry for a few years now, but I want to start developing a site. What's the cheapest and most reliable .com registrar now?

The cheapest registrar I know of is internet.bs I have never had any problem with them since I started using them a year ago.

With coupon codes, GoDaddy is usually fairly cheap. You can use the geo199 coupon to pick up a new .com registration with a credit card. There are a few other regular coupons that can bring additional new .com registrations down to $6.99 + ICANN fee.
