If you look at the whois information you will find that Network Solutions has reserved the domain and is on REGISTRAR-HOLD. So the domain is in limbo right now. When the name dropped, snapnames who has an agreement with Network Solutions, grabbed it and put it on auction.

So this means that the expiry date has come and gone, the domain name has actually left the owner and has now a temporary registration by network solutions whilst an auction takes place and payment is made for it.

As far as I know, you can't get in (or even watch) "after the fact". You have to have had a bid before the domain actually went to auction.
