Today we sat down with Nick Rushkovsky (TwoMoon) owner of Voodoo.tv for a one on one interview.
-----------------------------------------------
Eric - When did you buy your very first domain and what motivated you to buy it?
Nick - May 2008. Ocasionally, while surfing the net I found some info about the biggest sales of domain names. Some of them where sold at Sedo. I checked Sedo and thought I'm a smart guy and registered around 5-6 mid-high crap names. Than I founds Namepros, tried to sell them here – with no result. And forgot about all this stuff, till in September 2008 I received a $150 offer on one of these names at Sedo and accepted it. I returned to Namepros and became a domainer. No – became a very serious domain investor lol
Eric - What was one of the most valuable lessons you learned about domaining?
Nick - Don't follow trends, find your own niche.
Eric - Do you mainly sell to other domainers or do you target end user?
Nick - Well it depends. Of course the main goal is enduser. But when I need cash fast I'm trying to sell to domainers
Eric - If you don't mind me asking, what was the largest confirmed domain sale you ever made?
Nick - Nothing special here – it was $5000 sale I guess
Eric - Has NamePros.com helped you over the years since you've been a member, and if so, in what way?
Nick - Well Namepros was and is a school for me. When I began it helped me with a useful advices of the members. With the names I purchased here and sell to an endusers I built my portfolio. Without NP I won't became a domainer definitely.
Eric - How many domains do you typically deal with at a time in your portfolio?
Nick - It's around 200-300 names always.
Eric - What is your favorite extension to deal in and why?
Nick - It's .tv. At the beginning of 2009 I found the Dot TV subforum at Namepros - yeah, it was a .tv subforum here guys, with a separate marketplace It was a hard time for this extension, so there were not much competition. I purchased many .tv names on the aftermarket and some of them were nicely sold. Till today I'm mainly focusing on .tv
Eric - Thank you for taking the time to do this interview with me, I know your time is valuable. Is there anything else you would like to share?
Nick - I'm a small fish, but if I can give an advice I would say that it's not so easy to have profits in domaining, but it's interesting, funny and could be profitable business if you would read much and use your brains.
