How we classify keyword vs invented is usually pretty straight-forward, but there are obviously some gray areas. The names that
@hookbox mentioned could very well be keyword, especially the 'net' one. The reason the 'tape' one is invented is because 'tape' isn't a keyword that people look up. You also need to look at how you would pronounce the name. Would you pronounce T A P E Z A, T A P E ' ZA, or would you pronounce T A ' PE ' ZA. I say that you would pronounce it the latter way. I would encourage anyone to look at all our invented names and keyword names, and if there is something that is out of place, please let us know, and we can consider changing it. I think you will see that the distinctions are usually straight-forward.
There is also approximately 20% more keyword names listed on BB, than invented, so for that reason alone there will be more keyword sales.
Every time someone asks me what I should invest in, I have always said keyword. That is what I started with and has always been my bread and butter, but that is just my personal preference. We have sellers that have very good success selling invented names. Just like keyword names, all invented names are not equal, and I have also always personally suggested that investors buy names from the drops or GD auctions since that is what I have always done. These don't have to be expensive. I have sold many names that I have picked up for $20 and under. I've probably purchased under 5 brandable names in the last month that were over $100. But again, we have sellers who are successful that almost only invest in handreg names. There are different ways to crack the same nut.
