Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

I am also facing the same problem.

I sold a domain name through fast-transfer network 3 days ago. The buyer has made the payment, the domain name has already been transferred.

However, there are no details about the payment to be made to me in the email or on Afternic 2.0

It's been 1 week since the sale closed, 4 days since I sent an e-mail to the Afternic team and wrote this message here, but there is still no news about the payment.

The domain name has already been transferred, Godaddy has received its $750 commission, and the buyer has even started using the domain name.

As the original owner of the asset, when will I receive my money?! @GoDaddy

@kor
This happened to me on a sale and buyer was already using the domain. I called them to expedite the payment.

Due to the time zone difference, it is not easy for me to match the call times. But it seems like there is chaos within the company for a while and direct communication is necessary.

Unfortunately, payment status information is still confusing within the Afternic environment.

Hi @Future Sensors
Thanks for the update, Afternic's team is looking into this.

The new Afternic domain search page for buyers located on "godaddy.com/domainsearch/find" does not work on Safari browser.

Clicking on that magnifier icon does nothing, pressing enter doesn't send the form either. And refreshing the page doesn't change anything.

Instead of improving products, you constantly disrupt existing systems. You must hire A class developers, QA and UI/UX experts before it's too late.

If your goal is to make the current ecosystem unusable for buyers and sellers, state this clearly and I will consider switching to other alternatives.
Hi @kor,
We've tried replicating your issue on multiple browsers and devices across different countries, and we are unable to replicate any problem with accessing or using GoDaddy search from Afternic. If you experience this again, please email us with screenshots to [email protected].

Seeing the new Afternic page now. Start Buying button is linked to GoDaddy search and same issue still persists. .com domain don't show in search results since my country setting is Canada. When will this experiment @GoDaddy end?

Can I use Afernic for sales if I move all my names to an alternate registrar other than GoDaddy? GD pricing has gotten out of whack.

Yes.

Great, never thought I'd leave GoDaddy, been with them for decades! But their pricing is insane. They want $14.99 renewals... PorkBun is $10.37. Their DDC club does get it down, but you need thousands of names to make it a wash. I'd pay more to stay with GD - but their pricing is simply out of whack nowadays

Would Afternic suggest pausing all my names after transferring from GoDaddy to another registrar? I ask because after the transfer there will be a 60 day lock period (and in the unlikely event a name sells, Afternic won't be able to transfer it - although they can push it within the new registrar, right?) The new registrar (PorkBun) is part of the fast transfer program. Or is it better to pause all transferred names for 60 days?

Don’t like the redirect to GD for searches and how we can’t search easily on Afternic as before.

The search shows many unregistered alternatives. To actually see all tlds pricing and if regged you have to type each one in.

Now the only functional search is available as a toolkit within GoDaddy's Domain Academy. I love this comment on X known as Twitter:

So I transferred a name from GoDaddy to Porkbun. I then received an email from Afternic stating that my name was removed from Afternic. I called Afternic to ask how to get the name back on their platform and they told me one must keep their name registered with GoDaddy to list on Afternic. So it appears if I want to move my portfolio I will lose access to Afternic (which I don't want). Not sure why you said "yes". Do you believe the CS person at Afternic was incorrect?

@Sperry8
Your name was removed from the Fast Transfer Network. Not from the Afternic platform.

When you transfer a domain, your domain is placed under review. You can just e-mail or call them to verify ownership and they'll put it back on sale.

This isn't true.

@GoDaddy please instruct your employees to tell the truth.

I am back on the phone now to see if I can get them to verify

The 2nd rep is telling me it can't be done either. She thinks I removed the name. I keep telling her the name was removed as a matter of course and it just needs to be re-verified. She asked me if I'm sure this is the case. I said "you work there, shouldn't you know?" She now has me on hold for 10+ minutes. @GoDaddy

I can't go through this for my whole portfolio. Is there some language or special dept you guys call or ask for to make this process go more smoothly?

20 minute conversation and Mary at GoDaddy said it can't be reviewed by her. I have to call back another time and try a 3rd rep I guess. At least she gave me a # to an Afternic department that may be able to help (she thinks).

Finally! The key is that the email sent to me shows the GoDaddy # to call - and 2 reps at GoDaddy have no idea what is going on or how to treat Afternic. The 2nd rep finally gave me a direct line to Afternic where I spoke with an Afternic rep and she validated the name in a minute. Much easier process once you know who to call - which is very hard when the email shows a GoDaddy phone # and their reps are untrained. @GoDaddy you should update this email to have an Afternic # (and/or retrain your reps).

After transfer I just delete the listing and then relist the name, after adding the third (verification) nameserver. The latter part is probably unnecessary, but I like to think that verification is mandatory because it ought to be.

I tried to come up with the number of times over the years I've entered a name in the search box on Afternic as part of my purchase/selling routine...it is in the tens of thousands.

With the 'update', it has no functional use(s) for me.

RIP old school Afternic.

Once I go the right phone number, the verification (and re-listing) was quick and easy. Seems easier than deleting and re-lisitng, but everyone has their own methods.

Am I able to use Afternic's landers when I'm no longer registered with GD? That is, can I use ns1.afternic.com and ns2.afternic.com once I've transferred away the name from GD?

Mandatory verification up front ultimately may make Dan and Afternic even more successful doman marketplaces for sellers like you. Glad to see that you added that third step.

Well, after some consideration I’ve decided to abandon* the whole AfterDan/GoDaddy empire. Even if a searcher on GoDaddy (now Afternic’s search platform) happens to find something from the Afternic inventory by accident, they will also see the stupid GoDaddy estimated value, which kills the sales of certain kind of domains like a plague. For instance there aren't and simply cannot be enough data points to algorithmically evaluate domain names related to emerging tech.

*abandoning means unlisting, not deleting, to prevent fraudulent listings by scammers

Hi @Sperry8
Afternic doesn't have a specific policy on 60 day locks - this depends on the registrar and the buyer, so the Transaction Assurance team will work with you on a case-by-case basis.

This isn't true.

@GoDaddy please instruct your employees to tell the truth.
We will investigate this fully, but from reading the thread it may be a misunderstanding with Fast Transfer activation. We will, nonetheless, follow up with the support team.

Thanks for sharing your experience. To confirm, yes, regardless of your registrar, ns1.afternic.com and ns2.afternic.com nameservers are available for you to use.
