I believe only short and easy-to-remember domain names are sustainable, regardless of where in the world you live and which cultural background you come from.

Now that the Chinese domain market has become a hot topic, I myself want to understand this trend too. Is there any real meaning behind each domain name sold in China? Here, I'd like to share with you what I've found as I read the Chinese news everyday.

GZX.com
GZX can stand for 更自信 (even more self-confident) which can be used in many fields such as education, self-help, and even consumer products to raise your self image.

XLY.com
XLY can stand for 夏令营 (summer camp) or 新领域 (new field) which can be used in recreation and high-tech products.

A question for Kassey:

If a Chinese wants to start a website for some personal reasons (blogging, family sharing, showcase of personal achievements etc.) that has nothing to do with commerce, will he choose .com or .cn domain?

Hi Kassey, any insights you can share as to the Chinese meaning of 1227? I own the .com of this combination and found the following based on your advice for 2230.com (closest thing I could find)

"As we all know, the digital domain without language restrictions, the wide circulation in the market. The 4 numbers are among a class of frequent trading, are stable value species, such as millet + rifle, Amy, who still are focused on investing in such domains. "

I also own 9988877.com I picked it up last year before the numerics boom and get frequent offer spam. Does it have any good meaning?
Numbers beyond 4N are mostly for speculation where meanings are not important.

Domains is ChickenLollipop.com
Simple English words are acceptable, but I'm not sure how many Chinese understand the word "lollipop".

How much do the Chinese like English names that have a special meaning in Chinese culture?

Something like Golden Dragon . xyz
Unlike "lollipop" mentioned above, this one may work because they are common words. However, it may take quite a while before long, two-word names become popular in China. Most likely on .com. For .xyz, you need to be short, imo.

Very good question and I'm still debating it myself. I have both types but I notice my LLL8.com receive much more traffic than 8LLL.com. Also, because 8 rhymes with "bar" LLL8.com gives more possibilities and now I tend to gravitate toward LLL8.com. In short, I prefer LLLN.com to NLLL.com.

ShengxiaoYuce.com

No idea. I won't buy something that I don't understand.

Yes, GS:公司>Company

I see it as a global issue. For personal website, there is less motive to stick to .com or ccTLD because good names are long gone. Instead, people will go for something that is (1) cheap, (2) easy to register, (3) cool (4) short and easy to remember. This is where the many new gTLDs will come in. Say, I like skiing, then kassey.ski is excellent for a skiing blog for me.

any insights you can share as to the Chinese meaning of 1227? I own the .com
1227:要爱爱妻>Want to love, love wife
1227:要爱爱亲>Want to love, love, kiss

Thank you, Kassey!

Can you confirm that suishengri means birthday?
I was surprised to see it available in .com and .cn...

I actually think GoldenDragon.com will work today because they are simple English words. .xyz and many other extensions are mostly for speculation, which is a totally different area.

I don't own Pinyin .com, and my advice to those who want to buy Pinyin names is that you need to include the Chinese characters. If you only give me the Pinyin without Chinese characters, I have to spend time to guess the Chinese characters and then evaluate. So, please always include Chinese characters if you want me to look at it.

QTWW:前途旺旺>Prosperous future
Thanks Kassey, it all makes sense why I have been getting offers over the past couple of months leading into the Chinese New Year for QTWW.net. I was a CHIP that stood out for me and I got it before the CHIP boom.

I also own 9988877.com I picked it up last year before the numerics boom and get frequent offer spam. Does it have any good meaning? I liked it because of the consecutive number drop 99 888 77 and that its memorable. IMO

Thanks,
Jason NZL[/QUOTE]

wow! so a professional experienced domainer bought a 7N.com? This I gotta hear! so what made you decide to register that? I have a ton of 7N.com's and 6N.net's? I think your reply will be useful to people on NP's. I bought mine 7N.com's because of that 88888888.com say for $440,000 by the great Frank Schilling?

also I'm sure it's been discussed on here a ton of times but let's here your take on 7N.com's and 8N.com's in Today's market POSt 88888888.com $440,000 sold price.

Do you or anyone else on NP feel it's like a good indicator or signal that 88888888.com means 8N.com's or less have increased in value?

let's hear it! because as I was registering a ton of 7N.com's and 8N.com's alot of gems were already taken by chinese.

.co extension used at all in China vs .com?
I think .co belongs to the group of ccTLD that appeal to speculators for being short.

Does Chinese like LLLL.info?
Not sure. The extension is quite long with 4 letters. Registrations have been increasing, though. I don't have any opinion as these days anything can happen in China..

what's your opinion about 7N.com's and 8N.com's?
They are mostly for speculation. Too long for most end users.

and how much or whats the most a "speculator" would pay for such 7n.com's in the aftermarket? or from domainer to domainer which would be resellers.

Hey Kassey,
I have a domain that I think would do well in the asian market (889.ninja) and I was wondering what kind of value it might have being a fairly new domain registration. Do you think that the age matters much in this case. I heard that the asian market is crazy for these number domains. Do you know the best asian auction site like Flippa? Thanks for any ideas!

Hi @Kassey Lee , thank you for sharing your wisdom. I am wondering what the top 10 English words or names a Chinese person would register in.com if they could choose anything?

Zhang, Wong, Kung Fu, Pizza, Wealth, Luck, Hobbits ? Name Word or Acronym curious to look for ideas.

Happy Chinese New Year!
