First of all I am not a 'reporter' or 'journalist'. (Play on the word 'hack'.
)
Secondly, the value of something is determined by two parties, the 'buyer; and the 'seller'. If the buyer offers a price that is accepted by the seller then the 'value' at that time has been set. (Even with certain controversies involved a good example is shown by the purchase of Manhatten and Long Island in the 17th century.)
Anyway, the fact is that if a buyer wants a domain then the only way the buyer can get that domain (outside of legal recourse) is to purchase it, i.e. come to an agreement with the current owner, the seller. I personally would have not have agreed to the figure struck if I had been the seller, for I value the domain 'me.nu' as being of much greater value. So the sale would not have proceeded, tough on the buyer if they were not willing to meet my price. Such is business. The owner of the domain, i.e. 'seller', has the upper hand in any such negotiation unless they are under some external pressure which means the sale proceeds with the upper hand being held by the 'buyer'.
I guess one's personal point of view on this is based on whether as 'seller' you need the sale and/or you see yourself as a supplicant in the negotiations.
As for "dreaming" - well I would suggest that I am more awake than some and am not 'day dreaming' at all, rather I realise the value of such domains and will just wait for one of the multitude of potential buyers to come to the same realisation of such domains values as well.
Finally, everything is in the 'marketing'. Market something well and it's 'value' will increase, market something badly and it's value will decrease.
