One key for gTLD domain investing is doing so with the end user in mind. Ask yourself before purchasing this name, "could I see building a business" on that name or that set of names.
I recently acquired 'Aspen.guide' which certainly passes the "brandable test". Intuitively it just 'makes sense'. Here's a list of similar winter destination domains that I've acquired over the past couple of weeks:

- Adirondacks.guide
- Aspen.guide
- BigBearLake.guide
- Breckenridge.guide
- FingerLakes.guide
- Killington.guide
- LakePlacid.guide
- LakeTahoe.guide
- MammothLakes.guide
- ParkCity.guide
- SteamboatSprings.guide
- SunValley.guide
- Telluride.guide
- Taos.guide
- Vail.guide
- Whistler.guide
- Is it difficult to imagine that an end user would see value in these domain names?
- If you never sold these, could I see how they could be monetized?
