Hey NPers,
We've just opened up public beta for IceCharge. IceCharge helps online merchants reduce their costs by blocking known-bad and highly suspicious devices, credit cards and buyers from engaging in transactions with IceCharge customers.
Automatic Fraud Detection, and Optional SMS Authentication
IceCharge detects HTTP, CGI, SOCKS 4/5, tunnels (VPN, SSH) and TOR proxies. JavaScript embedded on merchants' checkout pages pierces these proxies and finds the actual location of buyers. If IceCharge determines that buyers are operating from suspicious locations or from known-bad or stolen devices, the service blocks the fraudulent transaction.
If the transaction may be legitimate - for example, if our algorithm determines that your buyer may be behind a corporate VPN, not a proxy being used to intentionally hide the buyer's location - IceCharge automatically activates SMS authentication. Legitimate buyers just enter a short code on the checkout page. (We avoid annoying phone calls that may cause unnecessary turnover on merchants' checkout pages.) Our API is quite flexible; merchants can optionally enable SMS Authentication for all transactions, IceCharge saves you money by only using SMS Authentication for transactions that our service needs to confirm.
We can also detect and block rings of organized fraudsters.

IceCharge directs merchants and fraud analysts to a visual fraud analysis dashboard. This dashboard significantly reduces decision time on suspicious transactions. Whether you're a merchant with or without a dedicated staff of fraud analysts, IceCharge helps you spend less time reviewing the small subset of blocked transactions that are flagged for manual review.
