Hello Brandbucket

I have set all my domains to minimum price to day
( wasted 1 or 2 hours of my life agian ..
feels like 5 hours .. )

if you can't sell any of my domains within the next 30 days
you may please close my account

you have had enough time

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
A 4.2% sales rate is great.

There are far more domains for sale than buyers willing to pay a premium price for a domain name.

I would need at least 1 sale per year in order to pay renewal

So how can this be good?

I think what @Nate was saying was that for the period of the prior 12 months your sales rate is above average.

If you sold 4Ls on BB you got end user prices that were 5 to 10 times (before commission) the value of 4Ls in the aftermarket.

Most domainers whether, on or off BB, sell less than 4% of their inventory in a year. (Note: BB calculates the sales rate by dividing the number of domains sold by the average number of domains listed over a 12 month period - not the end of year number)

However, as you've said, the person whose opinion really matters is yours :)

Since you feel that you can make more end user sales using other marketplaces, landing pages etc......of course its time to move on.

I wish you the best of luck and much success and abundance in the new year!

Thank you Keith.

true is :
the 4l.com sales were above my expectation

but i can't see BB having a greater influence in these sales happening
other then putting a price tag on those domains
that was much higher
as my internal price would have been.

which is good
and teaches me

but still:
registering 8xx random domains
and selling only 1 of them in 2 1/4 year
is extremly poor

if you think of BB earning 30 % of my sales
I am big in minus

I can't see them adding any value to my domains
I can't see them promoting my domains

I have no insight into the traffic of these domains
most probaly I would have sold at least 1 of these domains
in that time frame on my own Landing Pages
-as I sold 2 of the rejected domains based on the domain names traffic myself

yes they have a sale once in a while
but I do have sales once in a while too

and if my price tag is lower ( lets say 30% )
I may increase my likelyhood of a sale
and gain insight into my domain traffic
so I can learn

BB has been a waste of time and money for me so far
changing all prices to the lowest possible price
has taken about 1 or 2 hours on 100 domains
come on, how stupid is that?

Who wants to take over on my made up brandables
BB published and paid for ?
-BB medium prices $1.5K to $3K-
send me PM with offer

Hi Frank,

Thanks for explaining your concerns and experiences with the BB marketplace. Seller feedback is always helpful and allows BB to continually improve. Best wishes for continued success as you transition to your new sales strategy.

you can't blame brandbucket for not selling the names they rejected.. out of curiosity how many of the domains that are not listed (the rejected ones) have you sold outside of BB?

you registered 838, only 104 of them meet Brandbuckets criteria. They can't help you sell the 735 rejected ones so adding them in to the equation doesn't make sense.

IOf you have managed to sell more than 4% of the 735 rejected ones outside of Brandbucket at end user pricing then you are better off with out them.. If not then stick with them for the names that are accepted.

I think part of the problem is registering/buying domains solely for the purpose of submitting them to BrandBucket for listing. Each domain you acquire should have value, no matter it's accepted or rejected by a curated marketplace such as BrandBucket.

so your sales are $6,950
and you paid $1,040 in listing fees (104 names)
paid > $5,000 in reg fees (838 domains, assuming not all of them regged via dotster, domain.com and co)
plus renewals..
plus exclusivity..
plus no control over pricing..
plus 30% commissions..
plus logo fees...

1 sale in 2 years out of 800+ submitted / 104 listed, not counting 2 4Ls...

...what a great venue to sell domains.
what am i still doing on sedo with no listing fees, 50% lower commissions, better sales, my own pricing, no low quality $5-ish looking logos at $100 apiece, no exclusive rights so all traffic goes thru my google analytics to my own landing pages? am i missing smth here?

I don't blame BB
I just take a resume

sold 1 at sedo for $2300 USD
sold 1 at $899 via namerific ( BB accept and canceled after 30 days)
sold 1 at $488 USD
sold 1 at $4500 4L.com ( BB accept and canceled after 30 days)
sold 1 at $250 via flippa

BB sold only 1 made up name for me
all other sales where from 4L.com
2 sales from made up words didn't finalize (1 buyer didn't pay / another buyer disappeared)

BB accepted or not
for me it doesn't make a difference
as a made up word of 5 or 6 letters
that is easy to spell and looks good

its all the same
either you find a buyer or not

here is my resume of my more then 2 years BB journey:

I sold via BrandBucket in 2 years in 14 weeks as of january 2017

Domains
Submitted: 838
Rejected: 735
Sold: 4

-2 sales from made up words didn't finalize (1 buyer didn't pay / another buyer disappeared)-

total sold payout $12,445 USD

sold Domains had cost me much more then reg fee of course:

ycht.com $2400 USD
ugru.com $570 USD
zeqr.com $ 87 USD
debiro.com about $100 USD ( handreg hold for about 10 years )

834 domains left
average $10 USD each for 2 years $16.680 USD
( some where not 2 years old - some older - some I bought for lets say $45 USD )

so total domain BB income $12.5 K USD

so total domain approximately cost $20 K USD
plus BB fees $1 K
cost $21 K USD

so total loss $ 8.5 K USD
( meanwhile BB made an income of around $9K USD on my domains )

plus externaly sold domains:
( accepted and non accepted domains )

sold 1 at sedo for $2300 USD minus fees $1840 USD
sold 1 at $899 via namerific ( BB accept and canceled after 30 days)
sold 1 privat sale at $488 USD
sold 1 private sale at $250 via flippa after fees $230 USD

so total loss about $5 K USD

I still own lets say 750 domains
out of that lot
some of those where not handregged

plenty of names listed at BB in 2007 are still sitting there 10 years later. there is "fast money" and there is "good money", there is no such thing as "fast good money".

Hi Frank,

Thanks for explaining your concerns and experiences with the BB marketplace. Seller feedback is always helpful and allows BB to continually improve. Best wishes for continued success as you transition to your new sales strategy.

Keith

For those that have been following this thread I wanted to mention a few upgrades that BB has made as a result of seller feedback. Specifically, two points that Frank brought up were:

1) Changing prices on your BB listed domains took a long time -- I'm happy to inform everyone that there is no a feature in each seller's BB dashboard whereby by they simply check off each domain price they want to change (or click on "select all") and then select add/subtract 5% or 10%. In this way sellers can increase or decrease their entire portfolio in about 15 seconds.

2) Tracking domain visits -- Traffic can now be monitored for each domain listed at BB in each seller's dashboard.

Thanks for the feedback. It's always helpful!!

Best,

Keith
