Hi all!

We’ve created this thread to make it easier to communicate with us here on Namepros, and we’ll also be posting regular updates on our offers and products. Please feel free to share any feedback and suggestions with us, or to let us know if there’s anything we can assist with.

We’d like to kick things off with an extension of our $7.99 .COM transfer sale, the code “COMTRANS4” has been extended until 23:59 PST on May 31, and there’s no limit on how many domains you can transfer using the code. Every month we have great prices on a wide selection of domains, and you can find a full list of our sales here:

https://www.dynadot.com/sales.html

We’re also excited to share that our CEO, Todd Han, will be hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) right here on Namepros in the near future, with more information on a date and time coming soon.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I'm not sure if we've considered this but I'll see if it's something we can do! More eyes on the marketplace are always appreciated, thanks for the suggestion!
Well, pehaps the script would be a simple one.
The way manually to do the banner redirect to Dynadot appears to be by using their URL feature. Bascially, it shows the banner text, and allows the click directly to the marketplace listing.

If a domain is registered with Dynadot, this gives the buyer added reassurance that the sale is legit. And, for the seller, there's the real plus of potentially cutting commission costs in half or even more, compared to other Bodis external marketplace options.

This is the generic URL script that seems to work well, individualized for each domain, of course: https://www.dynadot.com/market/user-listings/xxxxxxxxx.com

@Caleb Tweed, any progress on the hover improvement where buyer offer is entered?

I asked another person to view one of my listings and without my prompting them, the said it was a little confusing (they too said they pressed the 'make offer' button to try and enter a price).

If it requires too much coding to add 'enter price above/below', t would be an improvement if the pricing area would highlight like it does when you hover over the USD (currency) button.

Also wanted to mention again that the 4 star rating is still bothersome to me. If it were equated to the grading scale in the US, it would be the equivalent of a numerical grade of 80-82. In the US, that is a B- or a 2.7 on the 4.0 scale.

If my names were in the xx or xxx range, it would not be too much of a concern. But when many names have a price in the xx,xxx range it becomes more of an issue to me.

Seems like it still hasn't changed, and I was hoping as well for improvement there as well.

Perhaps less prominence for the TrustPilot rating might make sense. Overall, the current 4.1 rating is still considered "great." And the reviews themselves overall are pretty good. I was surprised that the contact info for Dynadot on the TrustPilot includes primarily the zip code and city. If you compare this to PorkBun's TrustPilot page, Dynadot might benefit by providing more contact info there? At least perhaps a physical address?

For me, it is a 'good' number.

Yes, in an earlier post I suggested moving it to the bottom of the page if they do not want to remove it altogether. It is too bad a few 1 ratings (a couple from users that clearly did not follow the rules) have brought the number down.

Since we are talking about the TP ratings, a recent survey of upper teen to upper 20's (I cant recall the exact age range) feel that a perfect 5 star rating is considered sketchy. What a wacky world we live in! :xf.wink:

I bought a closeout name today and the payment remains in processing status. Is that because the name takes some time to be officially mine? I use the same cc to hand reg names with Dynadot so I know it's not a cc issue.

It can vary what day of the closeout it was purchased in how quick it goes into your account. Could you DM me the order number please? I can let you know exactly when it will go to your account!

Does dynadots $24.99 backorder fee include on year renewal? Or is that another ~$10.19 per name caught?

Welcome back from vacation!

With the Dynadot/Afternic interface for listing, can Dyndaot collaborate with Afternic to have a strict BIN there. This seems to work fine now with Sedo, where only a BIN and no minimum is seen.

For Afternic, the BIN on their site still appears to allow a $20 minimum offer. That seems confusing, especially for domains with BIN prices much higher than that. Also, the floor price is also left blank. So, it seems that each field requires manual input in order to have a completely BIN listing.

This also becomes an issue when having the Afternic domains propagated automatically to be visible on the Dan as well. In order to use the Dan lander Afternic option, they appear to require a strict BIN.

So, any possibility the Dynadot/Afternic interface can be fixed to correct this?

I use still use afternic, dan, bodis, parking crew and even some basic ones I came up with. I hate to say, but the filters that are on many systems/computers/servers filter out those that are PPC based.

I've always been happy with Bodis and PCrew but if I want to try and move a name quickly, I'll point to Dyna with a reasonable sales price.
Thanks. I'd be keen to hear sometime down the track if you maintain the increased level of offers with Dynadot landers. I had assumed most offers would come through Afternic, so I was surprised by that. Do you just have Make Offer on all your landers?

Also, I guess it depends a bit on the name, offer amount and the lander type. It might be that lower-end names do well @ Dynadot whereas people go looking for higher-end names @ Afternic. It would be interesting to know if you've noticed anything like that?

Hello @Caleb Tweed

Can we expect a .com promo from Dynadot anytime soon? I have got like 1K names that I want to hand register as part of an experiment.

for 5 days any sale attempt on those networks would be unsuccessful?
Yes, it must be the case. It is not possible for the registrant to move dynadot-locked domain to another account, so, at least, manual sedo/afternic transfers would not come through. Instant transfers is an open question though (never experienced this yet).

It seems @Dynadot will ignore my post above as they have ignored all my other attempts at communication to resolve this problem in a friendly way.

Dynadot seems to believe the best way to get away with a crime is to simply ignore the victim and hope he goes away.

If the NamePros community doesn't join in and ask Dynadot to be accountable for this domain theft, at least this theft is now on public record and available for everyone to see.

Would Dynadot approve if a bank dipped into its business account and stole $50,000 without its consent? I think not. But apparently, they believe they can do this to me without any evidence-based justification.

The same could happen to any Dynadot account holder. This concerns us all.

Am I the only one who feels not everything is perfect at Dynadot at the moment?

Yes, @Embrand , I've asked @Dynadot a simple question several times in this thread and via their online support and email and have still not gotten an answer.

The simple question is: at what point do auction winners become the unqualified owner of the domain?

I ask this because Dynadot stole a domain from my account weeks after I became the legal owner, weeks after I had invested time and money in it as the legal owner.

Looking forward to an answer.

Dear Dynadot, please make a promotion for .info domain for 1-2$. I can buy from Sav.com for $1.95, but I don't have money on Sav.com. :xf.laugh:

If dyna-regged domain is sold via afternic fast transfer - then the dynadot system _should_ inform the seller about the same [or simply send an email about successful transferaway]. Does not seem to be the case at this time. Not a big issue, but still...

We're currently working on how best to approach this, and are aiming for change within the next quarter or so!

or so... yea right... before u are done countless folk will cheat system for price checks.on their.names... and just waste time bidding and get refund
.. but I know u domt care... u didnt fix.it last years why would u now
.. your sense of urgency is an abomination. just send all exp names on day 26 to auction... like gd.. and block all renewals and transfers on that day too.. too lazy are ya.. I know

@Dynadot changed their unlock domain system to PIN, which is your birthday's MMDD; if Birthday is February 4, then your pin is 0204, but they didn't notice or alert the customer.

I chat with customer support agent, Clara Wooly. she said,

We apologise for the confusion! Recently, we have switched our account unlocking process from the birth date to the security PIN. Your PIN consists of 4 digits, which used to be your birth date, following this format mmdd. For example, the 4th of February would now be converted to the PIN number 0204.

We are really sorry about all the confusion that has been caused. There were some communication issues, and the emails were sadly not sent out in a timely manner as we wanted. We assure you that we will never let something similar happen again.

Thanks Dynadot for not letting me transfer my domain elsewhere. I have filed a ICANN report. Hopefully they will respond when they wake up. :xf.smile:

Hello, I'm sorry you're having issues with a transfer! Please DM me your username and the domain in question and I'd be more than happy to look into this for you!
I don't believe Dynadot is that generous to restore my domain from redemption. Will DM you anyway. Dynadot is in breach of ICANN transfer policy. :xf.smile:

Dynadot is another greedy registrar snatching domain on start of 30th day of expiry.

They removed domain from my account on 30th day start and put it on auction.

A greedy registrar.

How long does Dynadot have to take back a name that was won in auction ?

At what point does the auction winner become the full owner of the domain?

At what point is it theft, when Dynadot dips into an owner's account and grabs a domain without the owner's permission?

Again, I had been the full owner of this domain for 3 weeks when Dynadot decided to grab it out of my account and take it without my permission.

Does Dynadot think this kind of theft is acceptable ?
