First I view the Marijuana/Cannabis/CBD/Hemp/Weed/Leaf etc. a domain "niche" itself, similar to "financial services", "healthcare", "sports and entertainment". So carving out
melon domains, and regging domains like CBDMelons, 420Melons, CannaMelon etc. makes them a
Niche within a Niche......at least that's what I call it. My
"Incredible" portfolio is also a niche in that it only consists of domains whose first word is "Incredible" like IncredibleFlorida and IncredibleMilk....darn, just left our conversation for a second to see if IncredibleSushi was available to reg, but it's gone and is for sale at GD for $2,400. I'd have bought it to go with the
420Sushi domain I mentioned earlier because of the popularity of Sushi, if it were available
Here's an example of someone I might approach to work with me in some capacity with my melon niche domains;
http://highproofspirit.com/infuse/ This is just one example, but there are literally hundreds of potential buyers I could approach considering all the alcohol and even non alcohol beverage distributors in the world. You ask what the motivation might be for buying one or more of the names? Joe...this isn't a case where one size fits all, but it does require some experience and expertise to master what I consider to be a complex sale. Over the years I've had to make complex and strategic sales in order to compete successfully. Just learning who and how decisions are made at any organization is a start. Then learning about an organizations goals, wishes, desires and even budget may be the next step. Then asking for and closing the deal is the last step.
Joe...if no one were selling domains and making deals every day, I'd say my strategy probably wouldn't work. However they are, and I have enough confidence in my background, my experience and my past success in business to sell domains my way. Finally, this isn't to say I won't be listing my domains with the likes of Sedo and Go Daddy, but most of the people I'll be approaching have never even heard of Sedo. I hope this helps.
