Indeed, Hyper Reality is more recently being considered another name for Mixed Reality, much like Hybrid Reality as been for quite some time.

Yea well , when companies like microsoft and magic leap Imbracing Mixed Reality and with them plenty of new software companies that make content for mixed reality, i think we already established a term for this tech.. My opinion ofcourse.

What's your point? We're all basically saying the same thing, which is all of these gibberish terms mean the same thing..Mixed Reality.

My post simply reads that indeed, Hyper Reality is more recently being referred to as Mixed Reality, where as, before it was not. Also, another name for Mixed Reality, which was it's more primitive or original name, is Hybrid Reality.

Anyway, all are merging to mean the same thing, and as I've stated several times in the past, AR will most likely eventually merge and be considered Mixed Reality, as well.

In the end, I fail to see the need for separate threads for these, as they all have the same meaning.

...my opinion, of course.

Thanks, Mate! My point was simply that this thread is redundant, as hyper and hybrid are simply other terms for mixed reality. At present, mixed as a prefix is nothing more than the flavor of the month for this tech. It would be like having threads called holograms or holography, along with the Holo thread.

Just my .02...

Cheers!

You meant mixed as a prefix or hyper as a prefix?

You meant mixed as a prefix or hyper as a prefix?

Mixed. It used to be referred to as Hybrid.

Actually, it used to be referred to as Augmented.

Hyper is something far more recent.

Well
VR/AR/MR/Holo is enough for now..

AR is still here, but as you mentioned might be sucked inside MR.

Which was my entire point to begin with in my initial post.

From Wikipedia: "In semiotics and postmodernism, hyperreality (also known as Mixed Reality or MR) is an inability of consciousness to distinguish reality from a simulation of reality, especially in technologically advanced postmodern societies. Hyperreality is seen as a condition in which what is real and what is fiction are seamlessly blended together so that there is no clear distinction between where one ends and the other begins."

I interpret Hyper Reality as a condition where you can't separate fiction from reality. So it's not a technology. It's an adjective.

My Hyper Reality names (.com):

HyperRealityCasino
HyperRealityMarketing
HyperRealityMarketing
HyperReality.Marketing
HyperRealityP*rn
HyperRealityS*x

Well, like I said. It's an adjective. Same way TV:s are called "HD"
