VeriSign, Inc., today announced that approximately 7.9 million domain name registrations were added to the internet in the second quarter of 2016, bringing the total number of domain name registrations to approximately 334.6 million across all top-level domains (TLDs) as of June 30, 2016, according to the latest Domain Name Industry Brief.

The increase of approximately 7.9 million domain name registrations globally equates to a growth rate of 2.4 percent over the first quarter of 2016. Domain name registrations have grown by 38.2 million, or 12.9 percent, year over year.

A question. When they say all TLDs.Does this include just .COM or does it also include all the gTLDs, ccTLDs and New gTLDs?

I would guess it means all the top levels available to be registered. gTLD's (stuff like .com, .info, .mobi, .biz, .co etc), ccTDL's (like .ca, .de etc) and probably 2nd level country TLD's that are considered mainstream like .co.uk. Although I'm only guessing at the last one, but it would make sense to include those as part of a "global domain count".

Many ccTLDs do not publish stats, or not frequently. So it's impossible to account for all ccTLDs.
However the large TLDs normally release numbers on a daily, or at least quarterly basis.
