Epik has good aspects, but they are desparate for cash, and they try to abuse their
position (I think all marketplaces do it).
I'm talking about marketplace-masterbucks part, but registrar part is ok,
unless they fail to register domains because of lack of cash (and this would mean
using our money for their personal spending).
(END USERS, DON'T WORRY, YOU CAN BUY DOMAINS FROM EPIK MARKETPLACE,
and everything will be ok. )
Here are two events which they forced me to expose.
I negotiated sale of one of my domains with someone from country 1 (C1),
and at the end public price was A, private price was B.
A was bigger than B. There can be multiple reasons to place such a price gap.
You can consider it as a bribe, can be done to make the buyer feel special (getting discount).
So only one person can get the domain at this discounted price.
It was bought at price B (almost agreed previously, but took time, strangely).
Nothing wrong, but current owner seems to be from country 2 (C2).
C1 and C2 can't have much connection. Also second push takes 60 days at Epik.
So, who knows maybe it was sold to a 3rd (new) party for public price A,
but I was told it was sold for price B.
Ok, I was not blaming them at all about it, also I can't prove whether it happened or not,
unless I work hard..
Now, a "much worse thing" happened. (another sale).
* Domain was listed for a low promotional price.
Then there was an inquiry in a smaller but very close amount via an agent.
And I tripled the price.
After more than 1 hours, Epik told me, it was sold, but they sold it for
the old cheap price.
And now I want the difference, because I was obviously scammed.
They are lying and saying that price was the old price when sold.
And I proved that I'm right.
Currently they are ignoring . *
I warned them many many many MANY times.
Nothing happened.
It may be the case that they really sold the domain for the old cheap price,
but this would mean there is an extremely dangerous bug in their system,
and they MUST fix it NOW, instead of refusing to pay the amount they owe.
So, yes, I would say Epik is a scammer, but endusers, don't worry,
your money and domains are safe, unless you sell a domain there and
try to withdraw your money instead of spending it there.
You found a priced domain there, and price is ok, go ahead and buy it,
instead of hiring a 3rd party agent.
Also, I'm not saying others are better.
But selling a domain for a cheaper price than the actual price is totally unacceptable,
and whatever the reason, if not fixed, it is a scam.
