Do you like casinos?

I try to go whenever I can.. usually to Downstream Casino (near Joplin, Missouri) or over in Oklahoma.. probably a dozen or more casinos less than an hour from me.

Love playing the slots and have yet to try a table game. My favorite slot is Royal Reels. It's multi-denominational and I'll play anywhere from 50 cents to $5 a spin.

Most I've ever been up is $675 in one night.. it's not the money so much.. I just like playing!

Great buffet at the Horseshoe casino in Tunica, Mississippi..

My sister and her husband once tryed to explain to me their system of wining slots (Reno NV) but it went in one ear and out the other lol

I'd love to believe there's a system but there isn't.. if the slot is working as it should, the results are random with a slight edge to the house. Play long enough and all your winnings will eventually vanish back in.

You see machines with 99% payout? That 1% will still eventually eat your wallet..

The key is to walk away while you're ahead.

The only way to even come close to "winning" on the slots is playing a machine that has a relatively high payback percentage, and very importantly, with all lowish prizes, including jackpot (ie. 1000-2500 coins or so tops on 2-5 coins in; always play max bet; avoid machines higher than max 5 coins in; play quarters or higher), to maximize number of plays on a given bankroll...

More accumulative coin in, more total comps earned. Even better if one schedules most of their play during casino promotions (ie. double points, cash back, sweeps, food, rooms, trips, etc).

Done right and one can potentially have the edge of the casino - there are people who do this and come out slightly ahead ... but as with anything, there's a trade-off, playing takes time. So it's not exactly a good way to make a living, but at least a way to play for close, or in some cases, free.

I like them as long as I pick a small budget, and then stick with it.

I put like 3 dollars in a slot machine once, and got to buy my whole dinner after. It was nice. Lololol.

My buddy and I went to Buffalo Run the other night. I like playing the Royal Reels.. started out playing $1.25 and 50 cents spins, alternating.. wasn't paying off so slid up to $2.50, a few $5 spins. Hit for $50 several times but not enough, often enough to keep going.

We usually go to Downstream, High Winds, or Bordertown.

Plus we almost hit a deer coming back.. it was right there at the driver's side view mirror. No idea how we managed to avoid each other but it was close.

We have luck at buffalo run in Miami OK Dave.

I really don't like slots... can never understand what is going on.

I do have a bit of a weakness for roulette and texas hold'em though!

Hey, casinos are more damn fun that going to see any movie!

Wife and I go weekly to the local casino.
Might as well, as we get comped for meals and slot play.
Sometimes that free slot play has turned into some major bucks for us.
And getting meals at half price?
Can not be beat!
Heck, Thursday nights are steak nights.
Rib eyes, new york strip, bacon wrapped sirloin, prime rib, and more!
Last week, I actually must of ate about 5 pounds of steak!

Having worked at the casino for about 9 months, plus the guy that was head of the slot machine repairs (and putting in new ones, etc) is our son-in-law's dad and he lives a block away.
So slots, regardless of anything going on, regardless of what they just paid out, or did not pay out, and on and on and on?
They are mindless creatures that do not remember the last spin or payout, or any spin or payout.
So any amount, any spin, at any time, can lose/can draw/can win.

Hey, going to the casino is a heck of a lot better than being on any forum, including NP!
LOL

Okay, grocery store has new york strips on sale for $5.99 a pound.
Casino meal costs us about 12 bucks for the two of us.
So how many new york strips would I have to eat to be far ahead of the pricing?

I like steak nights way better than crab legs night, italian night, or any other night.

There is something decadent, and it is damn delicious, to have a big thick slab of rare prime rib covered in two eggs (sunny side up only for me) and bacon!

I am a sucker for a good casino buffet. When in Vegas, I used to go to the Mirage and eat the buffet for 9.99! Well that was back in around 1998. Awesome prime rib.

I sneak out every once in a while and head to Winstar in Oklahoma. I don't win to much at all. But i get a lot of play for about $50 on penny machines. Good fun and a quick get away.

Damn!
We went to Des Moines this morning, and on the way home, had a late lunch.
Ate too much and thus.....

We are still deciding now whether to leave for the casino for steak night, or pass.

I like casinos. I've been to Vegas a couple times, other than that there's only like 2-3 casinos around my area. But I haven't been to those ones. I like the slots because you can sit there on the penny machines and get free drinks all night lol

But I like playing cards too. Texas Hold 'Em is something I want to start playing more of at the casinos. Poker and 21 are where the money is at lol

No I hate casinos. I just think of it as a waste of money. Sure you might win here and there but in the long run you always lose and there's no way I just want to throw my hard earned money down the drain!

I like casinos well enough, but I can never justify my losses when I could've invested that same money on domains - with a much higher chance of profit. If I lose $100 gambling, the next day I'll be thinking about the hundreds+ I could've made flipping $100 worth of hand regs.

I guess I just prefer to use my skills to make money rather than leave it to blind luck... crazy thought I know!

I used to work in Las Vegas for a company that designed high-tech slot machines and promo stuff called bonusing. Was a very interesting business but very stressful. Talk about "time is money"! You haven't lived until a casino VP calls you at 3 a.m. screaming that no data is coming in from the player tracking system, or how he's had to shut a bank of slots down and is losing $xxx per minute.

I watched a guy win the jackpot on three slot machines one after the other. After getting the third jackpot a fairly large smartly dressed man came over and had a word and both of them walked off somewhere together, oddly enough he did not return to the casino.

When I was last at a casino I prefered the 1 cent slots, especially as you regularly get offered free drinks. I have heard that the penny slots can often be the big earners for the casinos.

I just hate getting excited and finding out I've only won $0.85 :guilty:
