Interesting post on Flippa that I just noticed - MP8.ph is for sale on Flippa.

"MP8.ph is the Official Website for the massively successful professional boxer Manny Pacquiao. The site #1 on Google when you search for “Manny Pacquiao,” and has been for years. Currently, the business earns its revenue through ad sales as well as merchandising as the official online store for Manny merchandise. You are buying 75% of the business and Manny Pacquiao and his attorney will be your business partners owning the other 25%. You will have full control of the business and site without having to consult with them on any business decisions. Ownership of the business allows you to create virtually any merchandise to be sold online using Manny’s signature, likeness, and photos."

Seems like an odd decision to sell it, but should bring in a decent amount, especially with the Pacquiao - Mayweather fight coming up soon.

It doesn't seem like an odd decision to me. Pacquiao is 36, this will probably be his last fight. So the owner sees this as the final opportunity to sell the site for a lump sum. He's running for the Phillipines senate in 2016..... so $xx,xxx + for the official website of a Phillipines politician, is effectively what you'd be left with.

He'll be gutted if Pacquiao wins and there is a rematch though. Imagine how much the site would make if it were to be a trilogy.

Just looks like a clear case of trying to make more from the sale than would have been realised in profit over the next few months.

Could pay off, could backfire. I don't think the business proposition is too attractive though, consider that the lack of longevity of a 36 year old boxer having a final payday. Would be a pure gamble on Pacquiao winning and Mayweather evoking a rematch clause?
