The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Who knows, I look forward to reading this thread again in 5 years time!

I have bought a few new gtlds as i think its worth a punt but i'm not spending like i did with .mobi

I got seriously burnt and a few others still on here back then and registered some seriously rubbish names and I paid over $8,000 for 1 name in 2007 :-/ and was regularly paying $$$ for lll.mobi lol

I should have listened and saved my money or better still payed $5,000 for porno.com in 2007

I feel sick thinking about it now !!!

True what they say, hindsight is 20 x 20 vision !

sorry for you but i think right now can invest in new gtlds with Very good profit i will soon making a starter tread for make a team and got investor about new gtlds

They call that the classic S curve.
You will find it to be true in almost all facets of life.

I think you mean in all successful cases. But success is not guaranteed.

what this ?

Amazing Technology that creates domain names with out any extensions like .com, .co, .in, .co.uk, etc. Now it is just @Domain

What is @Domain?
Internet has evolved in a big way since 1995 with great innovations but the domain name system did not change much. It started getting complex with huge number of similarly sounding domains and numerous domain name extensions(TLD's).

As of 2013 more than 350 Domain name extensions are approved by ICANN and currently it received applications for 1300 more new extensions.

This means that each domain name will have 1500+ duplicates with different extensions. ICANN is in a Rush to catch up the demand for domain name registrations. Any start up or a mid level company cannot afford to buy multiple domain names to protect their brand name and the approach it self may not be appropriate as it is indirectly forcing companies to pre register domain names irrespective of need.

We started our mission to solve this problem and decided to remove domain name extensions completely and make it unique, This idea gave birth to @Domain.

In future all the domains will be starting with @ and ending with unique domain name.

example: @Domain

Current Project Stage And Future Course

We started working on this idea from December 2013 without much success till mid of February 2014. February 18th was a historical day for us when our team built a solution for new domain name nomenclature and we consider it as a first step towards building great technology.

Soon we released that hosting servers built across the globe are pre configured to work with existing domain name system and are not compatible with @domain.

Our solution will be complete only when users are be able to host their web applications with @Domain.

We set our next course to build first data center compatible with @Domain configuration and enable user to host applications seamlessly.

For this we need your support and In exchange we are committed to deliver our Technolgy as per the plan.

How Do We Plan To Utilise Funds

Perks For Your Contribution?
@Domain Perk - 5$

You can register your First @Domain with just 5$(First Year). Registration portal will be launched in August 2014 with access only to campaign contributors before going public on May 2015 to ensure pre registration advantage to campaign contributors.

@Domain Perk + Twitter Integration -20$

What if user types @YourTwitterName in address bar and they see your customised home page with tweet feed instead of twitter page. Sounds interesting right! Claim your twitter name with this 20$ perk.

Beginner Perk - 500$

Your contribution would get you 1 @Domain and early access to cloud hosting plus 20 GB storage for one year. Definitely a great start to deploy your applications.

Developer Perk - 1000$

You can register 10 @domains and dedicated cloud with developer support. Your support paves way for building enterprise grade servers.

NOTE : ALL OUR SERVERS WILL BE LINUX

The Impact Of @Domain
Our vision of @Domain is not limited to making domain unique, we are envisioning a secure cloud technology and personalised domain hosting experience for every one.

Features Of @Domain

1. You can Own a @Domain and start hosting applications.

2. One click twitter integration

People can go to your twitter profile by directly typing in your twitter handle name in address bar instead of searching in twitter.

3. Secure

All the @domains will have default SSL encryption making it secure.

4. Unique and short url's

Your domain names will be unique with short url's for quick brand recall.

5. One click personal cloud storage

We will enable one click personal cloud storage from your mobile devices and desktops for safe keeping of your personal and important files with @domain.

Risks & Challenges
In the process of building our technology we foresee the following challenges

1. Trademark - Will restrict us to release certain domains to public.

2. Browser Compatibility - Browsers will search for name servers when a address bar requests a URL- based on subdomain and TLD, we will face initial challenge of browser compatibility as this is new kind of configuration. We plan to build browser plugins to take care of name server search for @domains.

3. Search Engine Crawling - We are definitely not ready for indexing in various search engines at this point of time. We plan to over come this by building headless servers which will translate and mimic regular url expression for crawling bots. We are sure that Bots will be ready to crawl us by the time of our stable release or else we will find our ways ;) .

Other Ways You Can Help @Domain
You can contribute to the success of @Domain not only by means of perks. We would love to see you sharing our innovation with the world around you.

And please do not forget to use indiegogo share tools to spread a word about us.

When you're trying to sell something that no one has heard of, you will need to explain it. And a big lesson people learn, not only with domain sales, but with sales in general, is that explaining why a client "needs" a service or product, puts a massive dent in your pitch. They should be able to see the product, and decide for themselves whether or not they want it.

This. This a thousand times. Just look at all the money .club had to spend on advertising to sell their names. They needed to do all that explaining. And even with all the money .club put in, most people still don't get it.

I have no doubt that 5 years from now there will be a few new gTLDs that will be as commonplace as .com, however most are going to fail. The reason being is this; most of these new gTLDs do not make sense to the average internet.

For a new gTLD to be successful it needs to be more than the completing note of a catchy name. It needs to portray the domain it is affixed to in a relevant light. And if the gTLD as a whole is going to succeed, then it needs to be relevant on a global scale.
Most of these gTLDs are only relevant in english, which seriously limits their target audience. Having an extension that spans across languages and has cultural significance is a strong indicator that it will succeed.

Take for example .berlin, or .nyc. These extensions imply the website/business is based in that city. However everybody and their dog know about Berlin and New York city, and these cities give their extensions cultural significance that span language barriers. These extensions have global relevance. It's no surprise they are doing well.

Unfortunately most new gTLDs just don't have any relevance to the average user's needs. Unfortunately most new gTLDs don't make sense from a global perspective. Because of this, most will fail.

However there are a couple new gTLDs that I think are very strong and are worth putting money into.

The bottom line is that the new GTLDs will "take off" when people start building established and well known sites on new dots. I invested the first week, I believe even the first or second day that .xyz came out and I reg'd quite a few. My advice is to try to develop something on your new domains, it will benefit everyone who reg'd new domains, build sites -> build publicity for new extensions :) I plan on developing one of my new extension domains late 2015 to early 2016.

I feel well established domainers are planning well with regards to New Gtld's.
1) It will take atleast 5 -10 yrs for new Gtld's to become known to general public. Right now they only know .coms nets biz org and a few CCtld's
2) They are accumulating the cream of the New Gtld's for the future, rest would be left for commoners.

So looking at the market, Domainers are still talking .com's keeping the next 5-10 yrs in mind.
