Welcome to planet earth, scammers are everywhere, using common sense will help you avoid almost all scams. Scam are built off of peoples greed, which overrides common sense for some. Watch the show: American Greed, and you will see honest, innocent, hard working people who give into greed and throw common sense out the window, and loose their life savings.
