Lets see how many general layouts we can list off that are used on the internet. Its really hard to come up with something original, and i figure if we have a list of things already done then we'll avoid the cliche.

Lets try this with a layout sorta like this
Name - Example
Description
I'll start it off with the top kind of my mind.

3 Colum Portal Style Sites - http://www.deviantart.com
Sites which almost always have 3 colums. One usually with nagivational stuff, another with polls, advertising/sponsers, and polls, and a third colum with text, news, and other random content.

Pages hosted by Geocities, Homestead, Other FreeHost - http://www.geocities.com/poetess47/ & http://www.fanfictiongrit.homestead.com/
These sites can often be found being edited by people who claim to know html, and own these websites for the sole purpose of telling people they have a website, and getting people to sign their guestbook. All of these websites share a common look because they all use basecolors, almost always is the text centered thoughout the whole page, and the graphics are almost always clipart, or something put together in MSPaint. These websites have their roots in the early age of the internet and soon turned into the mullet of the internet; Ugly, a disgrace to the term Webmaster, and everyone has had one at one point in time.

White based and Microsoft Lovers

White Based Websites - http://www.jsi.com/intl/omni/home
We've all seen these websites around the internet. In the earily age of the internet this was all we had. Those websites that the background is white, the text is black, and they pop a logo at the top of the page. The use of Horizontal Bars sometimes out number the use of links. Finally, the white background is sometimes replaced with a white based wrapping background.

Windows XP Lovers - http://www.islanddirect.co.uk/ , http://www.justfun.ca
With the arrival of Windows XP and its new childish look people turned to the internet to spread the joy and warm heartedness that is the Windows XP Default Theme. They make websites using graphics riped straight from windows, sometimes using skins which only allow for a mass production of this windows cults, and some go so far as to reproduce the windows xp experiance by building a whole websites complete with icons which allow you to navigate to a different part of the "computer" of which the website is imitating. Well i for one hate the new look of Windows XP, so join up with me and fight the power which is SubBlue and SubSilver, when (or if) you install your next copy of Windows XP, Choose the Classic look which was, and still is, Windows95.

being that i dig pixel art(we like childish looking stuff) i don't dig windows xp looks at all. windows xp's default skin just annoys me to no end:crabby: <--i needed an excuse to drop in one of my homemade emoticons =P

i kind of dig the white background based sites, though. something about them gets me all nostalgic!
