Chinese will register any tld as long as it is cheap and short.

I like the .tech extension. Technology will always be important. It makes more sense to me than many of these arbitrary, unpopular gTLDs. They are a little overpriced depending on where you buy one. I agree with other commenters that prices will go down over time for certain overpriced extensions.

I am pretty sure they will. Most registrars see that popularity comes in the numbers. If the renewal fees stay up to high, the total registration numbers will drop and the appeal for the gtld might even drop. I am very confident that they will lower it.
