Lately I've started a new "online" business that involves " virtual tasting and cooking". I already have some decent .coms for my business/businesses and I really don't need to venture into the .online extension space, but I really think it works well.

Now I don't own either of these domains, but which one sounds better?

VirtualWineOnline.com

or

VirtualWine.online

I personally think the .online extension makes a lot more sense when compared to .com.It basically says that your business is an internet/online based business, whereas .com doesn't indicate that at all.

Just as an fyi, the .online extension has 1.6M registrations, and is the 5th most popular new TLD following .icu, .top, .xyz and .site. Anyone else own .online domains? Lets share our expeience. Thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
This is very interesting and related to Bob Hawkes's most recent topic:

A few days ago I discovered (thanks NamePros!) that some registrars were giving 1-year free ownership over a few non .com extensions so I spent (invested:)) a whole day finding the best combinations possible available.

I really think that some of my names might be a better choice than their full dot.com counterparts.

Some of the nicest I could grab (for free :xf.smile:) are:

Acute(.)fun
Productivity(.)fun
Quick//Credit(.)online
Mega//Deals(.)online
Wealthier(.)online
High//Yield(.)online/store/site
Impeccable(.)space/store/site
Cheap//Homes(.)online

Would you rather use Mega//Deals//Online(.)com or Mega//Deals(.)online for your own business?

I am probably biased now (:xf.grin:) but I think I would rather develop under the latter.

What do you think?
Personally I think the right combination of keywords and .online work well together. While most of the one word .online domains are taken I was able to reg Conditioning.online. Here are a few I registered recently;

EuropeanVacations.online
AffordableHomes.online
CanadaCannabis.online
ColoradoCannabis.online

I doubt anyone will be searching for these names, so serious "out bound" marketing is needed imo.

Obviously the best performing online domains should be single word domains, as with any other ngtl.

But I also think that the quality of the 2 words put together counts a lot because, on my Dan account, my most visited domain (of a ~ 80% dot.com portfolio) of the last month is QuickCredit(.)online with 120 visits since I registered it exactly 1 month ago.

The second most visited is HighYield(.)online (46 views) and both get more views than my most visited single word which is Wealthier(.)online (35).

Aside from that, I really think that this extension has massive potential in the Hispanic market. As a native Spanish speaker, I can tell you that it flows even better than in English.

I just registered for less than 6$ some available single words:

conquista(.)online (conquer/conquest)
desarrolla(.)online (develop)
implementa(.)online (implement)
creaciones(.)online (creations)
descubre(.)online (discover)

I had actually registered decubrelo(.)online (discover it) a few weeks ago without having checked if Descubre alone was still available :facepalm:. And the funny thing is that descubrelo(.)online is one of my most visited domains on Dan (more than MegaDeals(.)online!) with 30 views the last month.

Let's see how many views (and/or offers?! (y) ) these new ones get, I'll share back the stats in the future.

Good luck with your domains!

Thanks Sellian....we should stay in touch. In order to graduate college with a liberal arts degree i needed a foreign language so I took four semesters of Spanish. In four semesters I was able to manage four D's so thanks for translating for me:xf.wink: I also have a curiosity degree where I see Nameworth values Discover.com at Ten Million Dollars so descubre(.)online should be worth at least a million:xf.smile:

Here are some of the one and two word .online domains I was able to locate and reg;

articulation(.)online
conditioning(.)online
stimulation(.)online
securitization(.)online
cheapseats(.)online
virtualgolf(.)online
canadacannabis(.)online
affordablehomes(.)online

like with yours, the exact .com equivalents are valued at tens of thousands of dollars. Now all we need to do is locate a few "end users" who think like us, have a lot of money, and and see the value of doing business .online:xf.smile: Thanks for sharing and Feliz Año Nuevo!

i tend to agree. here's a two word domain i just registered;

ElectionResults.online

We're having a major election here in America today (made me think of it), but this domain works anywhere in the world.

casino dot online was a huge 200k sale.
lock...a little over 50 .online domains were sold in 2020 with over 20% of them being over a thousand dollars, and 50% of those connected to a website. Radix has registered about 2M domains, but some pretty good ones like;

SydneyTours.online
and
VisitMelbourne.online

are still available. Did you pick up any .online's? Happy New Year Down Under!

Haha, that would be amazing! Realistically, I would be more than happy with a couple of thousands, to be honest :)

I just added these 2, very similar to the last ones in terms of quality IMO.

Transacciones (.) online (Transactions)
Producciones (.) online (Productions)

So far, my last domains are getting all nice views on Dan with Desarrolla (.) online with 22 views, Implementa with 17 views, and Conquista with 13 in only 2 days (Note: A good % of the views are probably coming from this forum)

Let's see how these new ones perform (y)

Very nice single words! (y)
Thanks...i also picked up visualizing.online and prioritize.online. I may develop a site BusinessNames.online to showcase .online domains, and when it's ready I'll put it in my signature line below.

Thanks for sharing:xf.smile:

Oh....anyone following this thread who owns .online domains please share them and let's discuss opportunities and possibilities to sell them to "end users". Thanks

I love questions like these because they let me flex my investing muscles when it comes to brandable domain names.

I said both of your domain names out loud and for me the virtualwineonline.com just sounds better. It's catchier, it stands out and it has a ring to it when you speak it.

You get a smooth, high value man to speak that domain name in a marketing campaign and you would easily have the ladies running to buy whatever wine you're selling.:kiss:

The .online version is cool, it just sounds a bit choppy when you say it. Whether you use .com or .online, you're still online, that's obvious.

If you want to base decisions off of stats, then go for the .online but if you want to base it off of brandability, (not a word- it's my word) stick with the .com version.

dope name by the way

Thanks for flexing your investing muscles...sometimes i feel mine have atrophied:xf.wink: Like you, i feel the .online version is pretty cool despite .com and .online serving the same purpose. They're basically redundant when they're used together in the same domain ie. virtualwineonline.com. Isn't it interesting that neither "domaining" or "brandability" are words and either is "com":xf.rolleyes:. However "online" is a word that clearly states it's purpose.

With most of the popular domain names using the .com extension being taken, .online truly is a suitable, and in some instances a more desirable alternative. My wife gives piano lessons from our home, and until the Corona Virus hit here students would come to the house. Her students now take lessons virtually (via an iPad and Zoom), and if she wanted to grow her business, i'd recommend PatsPianoLessons.online, especially if PatsPianoLessons.com was already taken.

I'll share this....one of the .online domains i registered today was DomainEducation.online. When I checked for the .com equivalent DomainEducation.com i discovered it was taken. While that didn't surprise me, guess where it forwarded to? Yes....NamePros.com:xf.smile:.....now that's cool:xf.cool:

Thanks

i just picked up a few new ones today;

LogHomes.online
WaterfrontHomes.online
GunSafety.online

While i can't be sure, i think GunSafety.online may be worth more than most of my domains combined. GunSafety.com forwards to TheGunBox.com that's a gun storage box? Ironically my Dad and his partner started AtlanticGuns.com in 1950 in Washington DC when I was just 2 years old. Atlantic Guns has been serving shooters and sportsmen for over 70 years.

It's funny how when you're keying and sharing information on a blog like NamePros how different ideas just pop in your head. Although I'm not a huge gun advocate, i was taught more about gun safety than about guns. My Dad got out of the business around 1960 and sold to his partner who was my Godfather. and his grandsons happen to run Atlantic Guns today.

Now my plans are to reach out to my Godfathers grandsons to see if they might want to partner with me to develop GunSafety.online

Thanks Sellian....let's make .online as more famous than .com:xf.eek: Anyone care to join us:xf.smile:

I like GunSafety.online! My only gun-related domain is GunCase.co, where all guns should always be, in their case :)

My last .online regs: Coinify(.)online and Cashit(.)online. Let's see how they perform!

Cashit(.)online...made me laugh, is that Spanish for Ahchoo:xf.grin: Just kidding...its really good.

I just bought three today;

HomeRepairs(.)online
PoolChemicals(.)online
FrenchLessons(.)online

Ironically SpanishLessons.online was taken. Whoever got it must have failed Spanish:xf.smile:

Finally, i did buy a .com today; DollarDownDomains.com, and if you would like to know a little more about it and why just send me a PM and I'll keep you in the loop. Adiós Amigo(y)

JackAss:xf.eek:online was my latest. Estibot appraises Jackass.com at 362K and it's not even being used. JackAss.com forwards to SAV.com. I wonder if they'll trade me:xf.wink:

Very nice single words! (y)
Sellian....sorry, but I've been preoccupied the last three weeks with a little tax business I own. However I've been able to register another 500+ .online domains. And while I can't share them all here, I can tell you 80% of their .com exact equivalents left of the .dot are valued at tens of thousands of dollars, and the likes of Sedo, Uniregistry, Afternic, DAN have some of them for sale for over 100K:xf.eek:

Finally, you may want to check out NamesCon.Online. NamesCon is the organization that just held a three day conference "online" for domain investors around the world.

I'm back:xf.wink:

Sellian...i told you I would circle back to you with some info about .online. First, about your two names, and I'm sure you know this; Coinify..com is valued by GD for $9,933 and Cashit.com is valued at $10,483. These valuations mean a lot to me because I intend to use them to show buyers what sort of value they're getting. I happen to own Bankit.online and maybe we should team up to sell our names to a rich bank:xf.wink: Now here's a couple of stories for you.....i happened to buy Vipor.online and Vipor.com led me to Afternic/Godaddy where their rep got back to me and said the owner was asking $85,000 for it. That didn't surprise me because on at least a dozen that I checked on, they led to other brokers like Huge Domains, Uniregistry, Sedo, Dan and DomainMarket where they were asking upwards of $250,000. Keep in mind I've probably only researched maybe 30 domains like this, but invariably they lead to way overpriced .coms that are hoarded like Verisign said. What all this has led me to do is register Whistleblower.xxxxxx, and boy do I plan on having a lot of fun with that. A friend of mine thinks I should hire a body guard, but I have that under control. Thanks Sellian, and maybe if we hit it big you can visit me in the states where we can watch World Cup on my Big Screen, I call it soccer and you call it football:xf.smile: Take care my friend.

Hi again ThatNameGuy. I am actually not as optimistic about this extension as you are.

I keep it simple. For example, CashitOnline.com is listed at $ 5K, so I list Cashit.online at around $1500 and see what happens before renewal. If I sell it, that's great! If I don't, I let it expire.

I only have about 20 .online domains. I paid around $ 10 for all of them. If I sell 1 of them for $20, I'll be already making profits (x2) :)

Thanks and I hear ya....check out SoulFest and JamFest two domains that I just bought for $2. Besides Whistleblower, I also own Troublemaker.online. If you see where Jamfest.com and SoulFest.com lead to, you'll see what I'm talkng about involving "Outbound Marketing" .Take care my friend.
