Who is your personal web host and why?

I have an Amazon EC2 instance running CentOS with cPanel. I've been very happy with it! For my clients who obviously don't want to set up their own VPS, I recommend Namecheap shared hosting, which they have been happy with.

What web host do you use and why?

I don't trust any other host than Hosting24.. I have tried HostGayTard and GoPapy so as 1andWorst... Hosting24 is cheap, slow but it works just fine for a simple wp page hehe. Support is great and fast.. they don't BS talk!

I bet haha. HostGator seems like another GoDaddy to me. I can't say for sure though, I've never used them.

There is almost no way to find a trustful review on any host out here... 99% of the review sites are making money with affiliate programs..

Too much fake reviews and finding the right hosting provider is a nightmare!

When I will want to build something serious I will go with Pagely.com! they work with VISA, Disney, EBAY and many more!

Pricey but you can trust them!

WOW, you weren't kidding! Plans starting at $99 per month. Definitely a niche for big companies though. I can see why it's so expensive since it's managed. Hosted by AWS, so it's essentially what I have without the managed support.

I haven't had a single problem with my Amazon EC2 instance, I'm very happy with it! I run 8-10 websites on it with no problem.

LunaNode, DO (DigitalOcean), Vultr, Atlantic.net...

Shared hosting? No thanks! Moved to VPS's some 10 years back, haven't looked back. A bit of a learning curve to begin with, managing your own servers, but definitely worth it. Learn Ansible and everything basically runs itself. Tutorials on any server and application management subject imaginable at DO, all in one place.

I use inmotionhosting.com VPS server. Running a lot of websites on this server and pretty much satisfied, costs about $35 per month to me.

As I know, in the past Amazon Cloud was offered even for FREE per 1st year...

You can get a totally free 1GB VPS for a year, and if you want more they just apply the credit for the value of the free VPS (which I think is around $8 per month).

Switched from GD shared hosting, that I had for years to HostGator because they had a deal going on.

I switched because GD had gotten really slow and I thought HG would be better because I used them for some of my client's sites a few years ago and they were good.

I am not happy though because HG is much slower than GD.

Probably too many sites hosted on my server.

Both the old GD hosting and the new HG hosting are/were shared.
