Hi guys,

Like anyone of you, I am always searching for new trends. For the last 18 months I went really deep into the LLLL. I placed my bets, and now only have to wait for all them 4 letters to be :sold:

So I was thinking. What would be a nice new niche for me to get into? My answer after some thinking and testing is actually quite simple. I decided to invest in quality LLLLL coms. I know I know, it is not actually a new trend and not really a niche. But I tell you, these 5 letter domains can become big business in some time :imho:

Why? Because quality 5 letter domains are extremely brandable. Lots of startups there looking for a brandable short name, especially the web 2.0 based ones. Quality 5 letter domains generate also natural type in traffic as I experienced myself. And ofcourse, it is dotcom based, the only safe bet you can make I believe.

I also believe that not all 5 letter dotcoms will be sold shortly, maybe they will never be. You really need to have quality names. But that is also a question I have for you. What is a quality name in this niche?

So maybe we can make this thread a bit sticky and share thoughts and experiences in developing this part of the domain market.

Oh yeah, just to share this with you. I recently acquired sygar, lyned, jebia, sebod, pifab, pobit, samau and penep.

You are not going to see any ramp ups, until there is a buy out.

Once 4L.com gets into that higher risk/reward factor, attention could shift to 5L.com

The only weakness I see is that non chinese premium 4L.com are still quite weak trading in the $200 range. They need to create a floor around $500, for most investors to get some serious traction. Unless guys are buying for reg fee, and hoping to get $20-$30.
Based on a rapidly increasing floor price of $2500 on 4L.com chips, any and all 5l.com chips are already worth at least $50 each, probably closer to $70. So they will all sell out now. Once regular 4L.com (non-chips, non western premium) reach a floor of $400-500 the full 5L.com buyout will commence, because they will then be worth more than they cost to reg. This is why the 4L.net buyout happened when it did. Their "10% of 4L.com" valuation tipped above reg fee. Of course the .99 .net promo didn't hurt either. A promo like that on .com and 5L buying will explode.

Of course, 5L chips may not trade at $50 to $70 currently because they are still available to reg for $8. Once gone the market price will start to balance out. But it may take the full 5L buyout for them to reach their full valuation of roughly .03 of 4L.com.

If the floor on regular 3L.com remains $20k or better, the floor price on regular 4L.com will be over $500 (so they are currently an undervalued asset). Then the floor price on regular 5L.com will be about $15, and this niche will be off an rolling.

5L.com is a value play for so called investors who do not want to throw down 4 figures, 5L.com no aeiouv should be bought out by the end of the month, at the current pace

I think it is the best overthought play right now, min risk, max upside, well done

Thank you.

IMO, 5L.com's are better than 4L.com's or even 3L.com's with a few exceptions. You are investing either x,xxx or xx,xxx minimum with the hopes of making like xxx or x,xxx. The risk/reward ration is skewed there.

I was skeptic also based on the large volume of inventory, but the way it is being gobbled up, will only make people chase it more, it is almost the perfect storm in the eye of the tornado, you never really saw it coming, and when you did, it is to late, it is gone.

That's what happened with 4L.net's. They were reg fee like 2-3 weeks ago and now look at them. Crazy stuff.
