A newbie question

I parked my sites with a well-known domain marketing service (names aren't necessary .. :)

All the domains parked there (5 altogether - the first one placed there about a month ago, and the last one - a few days ago) display the number of hits it generated, and the number of clicks and the fee obtained for each click.

The domain I registered a few days ago contains the work "casino" (it's a .com domain). I checked it thru overture and it gave me thousands of typeins.

When I checked the hit/click status (in my personal account page), it showed only 1-2 hits. The parked webpage (has a sale sign and displays a diff. and states the number of hits as around 40.

I'd like to know how the dom service determined that number, and why the domain generates such a small # of hits...

I know that none of my domains has been registered with the search engines yet. Where do these hits come from? How do people discover that this webpage exists? Why do some of the domains generate more hits than the others (related to the previous q.)

I need some domains-for-dummies answers ;) (and maybe some elementary FAQs and indo) before deciding what to do.

Thanx, p.

Thanx, p.

People type the names in their browser to see what is their. Some generate more than other because their more popular terms.

Overture results are NOT "type-in's", they're "search terms".
From the site: "See search terms related to your site, including how many times they were searched upon the previous month."

"Search Term Suggestion Tool
Not sure what search terms to bid on?
Enter a term related to your site and we will show you:

Related searches that include your term
How many times that term was searched on last month"

Based on the wording of your post, it would seem that your expectations for the domain name's traffic was due, in part, to your belief that OVT denoted actual type-in traffic, IMHO.
This could be one explanation.
You may mention the "PPC service", if you wish ... that way other's here may offer more input based on their individual experiences. Up to you.
Best of Luck.

This may be your problem. If a search term is searched thousands of times per month, it does not automatically mean that a domain with the same term in it will receive any type-ins.

Here are a couple FAQs
