I've been thinking about this for a while, but is there any relationship from a babies name that starts with the letter "A" and a domain name that starts with the letter "A"?

Studies have shown that babies and individuals whose names start with "A" and even "B" are more successful in life than other names. I can remember from elementary school David Ackerman and Julie Brigham were the first two alphabetically in my class, and they not only got good grades, they went on to be successful in life.

Actually i own about a dozen domains that start with the letter "A" and several that start with Ab as in Abort:xf.wink:

Apple and Amazon are two of the most successful brands in the world. Anyone see a correlation here? I just found this, so i thought i would share; https://www.thetoptens.com/list/favorite-letter-in-the-alpahabet/

Sounds very anecdotal and superstitious to me.

Can you show me the studies?

At the end of the day, I personally don't think it matters much - domain quality (whatever the letter) wins the day

Nick....thanks for chiming in, but I don't know what you meant by the "A"s win by a nose? I don't disagree with your "end of the day" comment, but the stats speak for themselves.

Ironically one of the businesses i started in 1978 "Accounts Receivable Management Corporation" changed it's name to AcSel three years later and it's still in business today 45 years later. This isn't to say it's because it's name started with an "A".......but because I was responsible for the re-branding, i know it didn't hurt.

Finally, thanks so much for sharing your research. It's because of some of the research you shared on another thread that I've been able to add 30 new restaurant and food service domains to my portfolio. Your input is very much appreciated(y)

The "A"s win it by a nose is just me attempting (and failing apparently) at horse racing analogy humour 🙂

The companies starting with the letter "A" had the highest percentage at 15%, followed by "C" at 11% so they just beat second place....

Maybe "By a Hair" is a better analogy:xf.wink: Even more irony, the very first business i started in 1973 was called "Credit Control Corporation" where you have 3 "C"s.

Nick....i'll pm you later with some of what I intend to do with the restaurant/food service names. One in particular is modeled after Door Dash a multi billion dollar company. Thanks again Nick!

There was a study out of University of Colorado that studied more than 3000 men (not sure why men only) and found that having surnames early in the alphabet was correlated with higher success, especially in school and college/university. However, the difference seemed to dissipate by middle age. The surname of the main author on this research? Zax! :xf.grin:

https://www.colorado.edu/today/2017...e-could-foretell-ones-success-or-setback-life

PS Thanks for the OP @ThatNameGuy and thanks for the interesting little study of company names @NickB – really interesting! I wonder if some of the companies specifically considered alphabet when they were considering possible names.
