Please help from specialists
The story started more than a year ago
I contacted the owner of the domain and purchased it through Dan
The domain was transferred from godaddy to godaddy
Everything was going well and I renewed the domain for the next several years
For about four days I have been receiving these messages
"Action required: Authorize your domain listings."
I have never put the domain up for saleI did not click to agree and sent a messageto godaddy and afternic
the answer is :
We understand that the domain mydomain.com had been listed for sale erroneously by a user who does not own the domain. Kindly be advised that, after a review of the registrant & ownership, the outdated listing has been deleted so that the domain does not appear to be listed for sale at this time.
after some hours i get again
"Action required: Authorize your domain listings."
i sent to godaddy and afternic
the answer
"It appears there was a listing error on the Afternic platform that initiated this request. Afternic's failsafes have already caught and removed the errant listing request, and they have taken proactive steps to ensure it does not happen again. We don't anticipate any further issues, but if you do receive any further emails, please contact customer support immediately at ..

We understand you have been advised by GoDaddy to create an Afternic account and list your domain name there to verify it so no one could list it.
We are working on getting this not to happen again, so no one should be listing your domain name again.
Again And Again
they advice me to list my domain by my selft for sale)))

We are investigating this so the issue gets fixed once and for all. In the meantime, I would suggest you do the following:
Since you already created an account at Afternic, list the domain in your account as explained below:
- Login to your account at afternic

- On the left, hover over "Portfolio" and click on "Add Domains" (you may also click here:

- Type in the domain name you are trying to add and hit Next

- Enter your preferred pricing and hit Submit
After listing it, you can hide it so the domain never appears for sale. At the same time, nobody else will be able to list it. To have the domains hidden, please access your Portfolio again, and check the domain. At the bottom, in the black ribbon, choose the option "Unlist."
We apologize for the inconvenience this is causing.

After i get
One quick thing: We just need you to notify your registrar that you are allowing us to facilitate the transfer during the sale of the following names:

mydomain.com You will receive an email shortly from your registrar, which will be sent to the administrative contact on the WhoIs record of your domain name. Please follow the provided instructions to successfully opt-in the domain. Thank you!

Now i start be in shock and worry
i sent to them

Thank you for contacting Aftermarket Support.
I understand that you have followed the advised steps and now received the notification for Afternic's premium network.
As you are not going to list the domain for sale you can ignore that email and any other regarding Afternic's premium network.
If you have any questions about Afternic or their platform, you can reach out to them using the following details:

# i start reading in namepros to help and learn my self
i read most member talking about disable fast transfer , i open my account try to found this option "fast transfer" to disable it but You can count stars but you won't find this option. i contact godaddy support in whtsapp after 90 min of Telling the same story every time, there is no direct answeri cant found this option and no one help or advice me

I made the easy decision transfer out from godaddy this was easy part in this story 15 min and i transfer to register not in this network.
Does anyone have an explanation for what happened?
Where was the option to turn off fast transfer?
Now am I safe?
Does the fast transfer option only work once?
Is it possible to sell a domain and transfer it from one person to another while the quick transfer option is activated?
How can I protect my domain now?
Thanks for reading.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
The fact they try to get you to create an account just to stop someone else from listing it is crazy. @GoDaddy is this right?

Someone was trying to list your domain for sale on GoDaddy/Afternic , without owning it.
It happens all the time
The strange thing here is that godaddy answers you to put your domain for sale in order to stop someone who doesn’t own it in putting it for sale.
That’s hilarious
Anyway don’t worry , you’re domain is safe

Hello, @Ahmed.elkashef ,

I have some small contributions to your thread which I hope will help you, at least to start unraveling what happened after you listed your domain on Afternic. For what was happening before that, I only know that the possibility of a bad intentioned person listing your domain in order to obtain a dishonest profit has been mentioned several times in these forums.

Normally, after listing a domain in Afternic, you receive an automated email if and when you have set a fixed "Buy it Now" price. Otherwise, you don't receive it; so, in theory, one way to set the Fast Transfer elegibility off, is to leave the domain as a "Make offer" listing.

What their support mentioned was the "Unlist" feature that enables you to have your domain in your Afternic's account (thus preventing others to list it), and then, as their support put it, "hide it".

Like other members have already pointed out here, one would expect that GoDaddy/Afternic made improvements on their side so that domain legitimate owners didn't have to go through this kind of messy situation.

Indeed, I went through difficult moments, especially when I read of a completely similar situation that resulted in the theft of a domain smartwp

anyway Thank you for your responses, and excuse me as I do not have sufficient experience in this issue
Can you help me answer these questions
If I had clicked on the word Authorize in the email, would I have lost my domain?
Where was the option to turn off fast transfer?
Now am I safe after transfer domain to other domain registrar?
Does the fast transfer option only work once Or is it an option attached to the domain with all registrants i will suffer all time?
Is was possible to sell a domain and transfer it from one person to another with the fast transfer still attached with domain ?
Can someone advise me on a safe domain registrar for businesses outside this network?

To the best of my understanding (but I would appreciate @GoDaddy 's word here), this question has two possible answers:

1- If you had authorized Fast Transfer before having your own account at Afternic and before having listed your domain through such your account, then, yes, you would have been in danger of losing your domain and not being compensated for it.

2- On the other hand, once you had listed the domain through your own account at Afternic, if you had authorized Fast Transfer, the risk was that the domain could have been sold without you wanting really to sell it, but then, in theory, the money from the sale would have gone to your account.

Nowhere that I know of. The options would have been, if I understand well:

1- Editing the listing of your domain to remove the "Buy it Now" price (leaving it to "Make offer").

and

2- Clicking on the three dots at the right margin of your domain in Afternic, then selecting "UNLIST" option (not "delete", but "unlist")

and

3- Ignoring the Fast Transfer authorization request.

And, finally, to write to Afternic and GoDaddy to state that you definitely do not intend to sell the domain.

Of course, keep record of everything (screenshot, emails, etc.), just in case.

Now has all this chaos ended forever with the move to another registrar?

It seems so, yes, provided your new Registrar isn't a partner in Afternic's Premium Network.

@GoDaddy
Thank you for replying
After I read the post and that the fraudulent lists were sent to clients who own llll.com oneword.com
What will happen to customers who agreed by mistake? Will they lose their business due to the lack of sufficient insurance until the problem is resolved?

@GoDaddy
I added a friend's domain as a test (From Godaddy) without verification and it is now up for sale!
It's a serious problem.
Thanks

This sounds like this was linked to a recent event that we published a statement on: https://blog.afternic.com/listing-integrity/

Please continue to work with Afternic's support team for help and guidance.

Thank you for the article. This happened to me on the 23rd for one of my 4-letter domain names. I did not click the Authorize button -- instead I added the domain name to my Afternic Account. I'm glad Afternic caught the fraudulent activity -- and I hope they do improve on the automation of the opt-in emails (waiting until the status is "active" or something). I also hope that GoDaddy/Afternic would help any rightful owner who lost a domain name from fraudulent activity.

Thats the problem they let anyone list any domain that is not listed it doesn’t matter where you transferred it to. Then they expect YOU to fix it by listing then verifying then hiding it. Similar happened to me not too long ago. Problem is hiding it does not render it not searchable it just doesn’t show a minimum or bin.

Exactly... And by doing so, they would be the ones knowing for sure who is the actual owner, contact info, etc.

This data comes in real handy if you're offering domain acquisition/brokering services.

Fast Transfer will be a loop hole to stole domain. If you found a 5 figures domain, list it for 100$. And if you are lucky, you get the domain for very cheap.

But Afternic and Dan have improve the way to list a domain, must be with NS3 or TXT verification on DNS/Nameserver. Should ban the thiefs those listed thousands of domains they do not owned, they are scammers. Hoping one or two domain owners will approve fast transfer accidently. They are criminals

You don't need to use any verification if the domain isn't already listed which is the problem.

Oh, thanks for the info, I don't know about it, I thought it works for every domains. Yes, if someone still able to list domains without verification on NS or TXT, then there will be scammers try to sell or stole others' domains with Fast Transfer Scheme again and again. Hope Afternic and Dan can work to tackle this isue.

Yeah it really isn't hard to rectify. Just treat every domain submission as though it were already listed and require ownership verification. Sedo does it (although their verification system is a complete shit show).
