Domain name history doubt

Hi,
I purchased a domain

javaexperience.com

on 20th July from godaddy. But recently I saw the history of this domain name and I see

doster.com

was having this domain since april 2002.

I have concern because I am unable to rank this domain in search engines after so much effort. Any body have any info on this, please share.

What target keywords are you trying to rank for? Without knowing your key phrases, it's impossible to see who your competition is, and what they are doing differently than you are, to beat you in the SERPs.

mine is a tutorial website. A couple of keywords I am trying to rank are:

"Run Multiple tomcat instances"
"Java code review checklist"
"Tomcat Interview questions and answers"

There are currently 97 tutorials on my website.

Well, the site is in google, so it is indexed.
It is a pr2.
Need more backlinks though.
Alexa ranking is good at 211k or so.

I would work more on the title, check your description to make it better.

sure thing iowadawg. I am constantly working on quality of content and backlinks. But as I asked in my first post, the history matters or not. The first time this domain was see was in 2000. Shall I keep on working on this domain or leave it because it may have some issues due to bad practices of previous owner.

Probably not. It seems to have very little history in terms of drops/transfers going back to 2000. It might be worth checking www.archive.org to see what the site used to look like.

I do believe that past history has zip to do with present and future history.

First of all Dotster was not the owner/registrant of the domain but the Registrar!

I checked with DomainTools and i saw the name of the Registrant who seams to have had the name since 2006.
I don't think you will have any problem, just because the Registrar was Dotster in the past.
In fact i know this person (the past registrant - bought some domains from me in the past) and i never saw any negative issue about this person.
This is just my personal opinion and nothing else.
