Great sale @DNGear and thanks for sharing some info about the buyer.

I'll play referee a bit in the side debate with @alcy since I agree in principle with some of the concerns being raised:

Swetha's foresight and big sales are indeed to be admired; however as domainers, along with taking inspiration from her hard work, we need to remember that these results required three very important things... a lot of money, a lot of luck, and a lot of patience. Most of us will never have the luck and patience to see this quantity and level of sales, and even if we did, do we have the money to renew thousands of domains for years while we wait?

Perspective is very important for us domainers. Always keep the full picture in mind. Is Swetha in the black for her domain career? We don't know, and she has no obligation to tell us. We only know about the big sales. How much time has been (and continues to be) invested in her portfolio? Is she better off than she would have been making $40K per year plus benefits at a random office job?

These sales should absolutely be celebrated. It's exciting to see a new extension getting some love. Domainers just need to combine a healthy dose of realism with their inspiration before investing heavy amounts of time and money into trying to replicate Swetha's results.

True. It should be said that this scenario is virtually the same for some top domainers who sell .coms for huge numbers. There will always be those who are doing better and they are the outliers as they are in the minority making a profit.

There's a difference between healthy realism (saying your piece then leaving it as that) and attention-seeking nitpicking which Alcy seems to revel in.

You try too hard to rain on Swetha's parade and each time you fail badly.

its not a parade it's a monopoly. and u will never match her results. if there seems to be some part of this u dont get then that's yer problem.

Most domai

Flawed logic.
Most domainers won't match Rick Schwartz's/ Frank Schilling's / Mike Mann's / Braden's results but that doesn't stop their successes being celebrated each time they make a sale.

In fact you have more chance of regging a dictionary one-word .xyz than the equivalent in .com. Are you going to accuse all the old timers who got in early of having a monopoly on 1 word . coms ? I doubt it, yet somehow Swetha and xyz are your easy targets.

Very petty indeed.

u just keep on dreaming u will be making xyz sales like she does lol

Swetha keep showing how real your sales are, because I know how many people envy you or question your sales, but I also know that for many people you are an inspiration. Keep it up, cheers.

there ain't a thing to inspire here. she holds 20k most sellable names. good for her..but let's call it what it is ...a monopoly... not an inspiration. let's skip the nonsense guys

Wouldn't you do the same if you had the foresight to reg all the best you can before anyone else? Or would you leave some for the rest of domainers out of compassion?

that's besides the point.. the point was there is no inspiration only monopoly. and it's important for all to understand nobody.can approach her results. anyway its beyond clear that no one does anyway.

we can have a woulda coulda shoulda talk about what we'd all.do.later ..but I doubt it's that exciting living in maybe world

Maybe you should read it til you get it. He said -

He never mentioned xyz, and to go reg a bunch of them. But that is how you interpreted it. The fact is she took the risk and regged a bunch of premiums in an extension!!

And yes they can be duplicated by anyone with any new extension that comes out by those that who are willing to take that risk to wait and see if that extension pans out. So you're wrong there! She could have flamed out and never sold any of them. That was the risk she took. Same can be said of the early domainers and their 'speculative' domain investments at that time. In fact all domain regs are speculative investments or 'living in a maybe world', just like your 1300 ones or those with 10s of thousands. We just don't know what will pan out, and what won't, but seeing what can be done...is inspiring to those that are willing to risk such.

u just say it to keep convo going.. deep.inside we both know there will never be another entire tld like xyz where what she did could be done.

but... we always have new niches..so let's just inspire ourselves and others in.that area and.not waste time dreaming about matching her results. or selling 2word or 55word xyz names.
