Hello All,
There are at least a few of us on here who are active on the forum and are based in the UK. Which probably signifies there are a lot more who are either active on sections I don't usually frequent or who don't really join in but are nevertheless keen domainers.
As lockdown conditions are slowly being lifted we should soon able to socialise with friends, colleagues, family and - dare I say it? - strangers once more. Even indoors.
How many would enjoy a UK held conference or meet-up of some kind? Even if there are only a few of us, we should be able to design an engrossing and useful agenda to fill a day if held somewhere central. Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester are easy enough to get to for most. London is crowded, expensive and it's a lot harder to find a venue when we want it. Obviously the extremities of Scotland, Cornwall and a handful of others will be difficult wherever we select as the venue.
Do bear in mind that it can take months to organise such an event if there are lots of us, which is the ideal situation. We don't have any funds for this so for the first one at least, we'll have to share the costs between us, which is another factor unless we can find sponsors with deep pockets. What I personally refuse to join in with is a promotional event for a single body with a vested interest. We'll have to restrict sponsors to advertising only, making it clear we are fully independent and advertisers are just that. Advertising/sponsorship is not a sign of endorsement. Blah blah. You get the drift.
Thoughts in the comments, please. If you don't like joining in on public forums, please vote instead. I'd prefer voters not to comment but if you comment as well, please tell us you have voted so we don't double-count.
With thanks,
Mike
