hi,
im wondering if anyone could give me advice in getting google pr rating up. what exactly does google base its ratings on? links? and how to make those ratings higher. cuz i mean ive seen crappy sites with barely anything on them with google pr6 and very well made sites with lots of info that are not even ranked or are ranked very low.

thanks for any advice

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Backlinks. You would want sites with higher pr then your site to link you and more then likely you would gain a little muscle during the next pr update. The whole pr thing and Google is still a big mystery.

Get high PR links if you're after high PR. Shoot for PR5 and PR6 links.

But what is the PR of a site/page today??? :)

Google haven't officially updated the visible Pagerank in over two-three months, so you have really no idea what the sites real PR is now...
(google updates the PR internaly all the time..)

Buying and selling PR domains and links today is IMO useless since the real PR of a domain/site could be FAR different of what the google toolbar displays.

Ive found the best bet is to url forward all your parked and dormant domains to the one you want the ranking on - :bingo:

If a site is in google directory, you can see the updated/real PR.. :)

Redleg is right. Google seems to be pushing on with their plan to update PR quarterly. It used to be every 18 days, on the average. This is to make buying and selling of links harder.

Also, it used to be that a backlink check will only show results with PR4 and higher. Now, most of the results are PR0-PR2. This is Google's way of hiding the higher PR links. Again to discourage link buying. But of course the high PR links are still there and being counted in the calculation. Google just chooses not to make them publicly viewable.
