These "thank you" posts without any added value are very annoying, it makes it harder to read a thread. There is a "thank you" button below each post. Please press that button if you want to say thank you but you don't want anything to add.

For example on the NamePros blog section, below each blog post I frequently read posts like these:

"thank you very much @ (name of the poster here), it was indeed very useful!"

"thank you Mr. XYZ, your contributions are always very valuable, keep posting!"

"Thank you @ xyz
Very interesting details, thanks for sharing that!"

"Thank you very much!

Very valuable information and for free :)"

"Thank you"

IMHO all these thank you posts without added value should be deleted. It is fine to say thank you when in the next paragraph you add a question or add something valuable to the discussion.

But without added value these posts are very annoying. Sometimes new members write these spam "thank you" posts just to increase their post count. So sometimes these "thank you" posts are pure spam.

Two options if you want to say just thank you without any extra pieces of information:
1) press the "thank you" button but don't write anything in the thread
and/or
2) send a private message to the OP saying thank you

Hello,

Rule 1.14 covers this, but it doesn't apply to the blog and a few other sections.

For threads without many replies, it's typically better for the community to allow these than to make someone feel badly by removing their post.

For threads with a lot of replies and activity, it's important to clean them up.

We hope that helps.
