question Pre Checks Domain Purchase

Before purchasing a domain name whether it's hand reg, through expired auctions, or purchasing off another domain investor what pre-checks ( keyword search volume, cpc etc) do you do before purchasing that domain name?

Let's use SugarBranding(dot) com as an example if this was available to hand reg would you purchase this domain name if yes why and if no why not?
