Awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to US President Barack Obama in 2009 failed to achieve what the committee hoped it would, its ex-secretary has said.

Geir Lundestad told the AP news agency that the committee hoped the award would strengthen Mr Obama.

Instead, the decision was met with criticism in the US. Many argued he had not had any impact worthy of the award.

Mr Lundestad, writing in his memoir, Secretary of Peace, said even Mr Obama himself had been surprised.

"No Nobel Peace Prize ever elicited more attention than the 2009 prize to Barack Obama," Mr Lundestad writes.

"Even many of Obama's supporters believed that the prize was a mistake," he says. "In that sense the committee didn't achieve what it had hoped for".

And the Trial Lawyers lobby. And frivolous claims and lawsuits by dishonest customers. Most all Insurance has been a scam. And they really do employ people to deny claims, make huge profits and love selling high premium products like Malpractice insurance for megabucks. 1/3 of the gross price of a private Helicopter used to be just for insurance premiums protecting the manufacturer against it falling out of the sky.

Warren Buffet loved the profitable insurance business. But they do take huge hits with natural disasters, something that the Govt shouldnt necessarily get involved except for public property, roads and extra security. But as unpopular as it sounds the taxpayer in CA shouldnt have to pay for Hurricanes in Florida, or FL taxpayers pay for Earthquakes in CA. Risk is a choice. Regional and local only, RE company contracts for sale should make all full risk coverage included and Banks too, in order to apply for a Mortgage. Not get stuck with uninsured people being subsidized, and Flood and Fire coverage is mandatory no matter the origin and be weaseled out of paying on technicalities like it is now.
