Be thankful such an auction even exists that can give you a possible life changing score. Instead of being thankful you are complaining when the auction is technically lasting a week.

If someone wanted a name, they will get to it.

the organisation or complete auction for this.

I am sure that if they could they would extend or find another solution.

I am amazed at the .US selection, Clitoris.us... didn't even receive one bid and the actioneer even admitted that he could not find it...

I am in this business a long time (longer then I am in the domain business)
and I can tell you that people would be to tired in a few hours if it would
go on.

And again I dont believe we should be so negative about Moniker they
did a great job making it possible for us to listen to etc.. so, I think
anybody who works hards and makes a effort should not be brought down
that hard. Make suggestions sure, send them a email with ideas or anything
like that.. but, placing such statements here... nehhh I don't think
that is the right thing to do. IMHO

That's nice of you to say; however, the fact is that my POW.us is nowhere in the league as some of the other domains on the block. I agree the .us domains did poorly.

In the future, Moniker should be narrowing down a list of only 200 domains to be put on live auction to ensure all domains go to be on the block. Otherwise, Moniker should split up the auction between two days/time periods. Moniker should also do a better job of grouping similar domains. For instance, POW.us would have been nicely situated with armyreserves.com.

I do think there was defintly a rush 1..2..3 should not take under 2 seconds.... But then again I had a couple of drinks, but to me it seemed like it they were trying to compress the 2nd half of it. IMHO

That's true Faisj because Great domains always find offers if a domain is hard to sell it was probably only great in the registrants opinion I mean POW.us is a nice domain nowhere in the league of Porn.com, Wind.com, Bourbon.com Whiskey.com Families.com etc....... IMO If someone wants it they will make their offer for the domain

For clarification; Faisj, Moniker has been and still is my favorite registrar. Overall, the auction appears to have been a success... But the last hour was one huge clusterf000.
The last hour doesn't point to some huge fault or failure with Moniker (Unlike Registerfly), but it does point out something that should be addressed, and they should have had a contingency plan in place that didn't seem so "firesale-ish" (Thanks, Fonz) for some GREAT names that didn't make it to the block.
Folks, for the most part, are offering constructive criticism.
1) Be more selective with names to the live auction (Keeps the trash from wasting time)
2) Rent the hall for longer (If the $ on the table is that large, pay for the space)
3) Stay consistent with calling the bid
4) Keep the pace moving to get through things efficiently, which is a combination of the 3 above points, perhaps.
5) Some items don't really need to be auctioned - like porn.com - the buyer and seller both knew where the other stood, and anything beyond the 7.5 / 7 split just being announced and letting the crowd prod them a bit is just for show Well, that's a bad example - maybe these:

In some instances, people place lower reserve prices on their domains in the hopes the domains will be selected for the live auction and that more bidders will bid on the domain. While I'm not the registrant of JVU.com, I would suspect the registrant put a low reserve price on the domain to help get the domain in the live auction (which worked).

The registrant of JVU.com believed the domain would be auctioned off to the entire audience (and not in some hallway where the auction was just telling reserve prices and selling to the first offeror). Notwithstanding this fact, the action of starting a firesale (even before going into the hallwall) reduces my faith in Moniker's ability to fairly offer each domain up for auction.

And just for the record, I'm with what Allan said: Moniker has been my favorite registrar.
