Are you for or against cybersquattings?

I would like the start a thread on the topic of cybersquatting!

Do you think companies should pay for trademark domains names if they lost them?

Here's a great place to start, Ugnali. :talk:

Also you can go to the source and read the domain dispute policy,

http://www.icann.org/udrp/

There's also a database of all past domain disputes. The decisions are public information after they're made.

Past domain name disputes - UDRP - (and specifically their findings and reasonings for their conclusions) are immensely informative, IMHO.

What if i register a company with the name HP LTD., can i sue Hewlett Packard for there hp.com domain?

Probably not ... as likely their ™ would have pre-dated your application for trademark, and the fact that they are a long established (branded) major corporation. Check to see if they have a trademark at: www.uspto.gov

PS. I ain't no attorney. :)
All the best!
