Hey folks, seeking some guidance on navigating trademark concerns when selecting domain names for sale. Specifically, I'm wondering about the use of common terms like 'meta'—are they generally considered safe, or do they carry potential trademark risks? Appreciate any insights or advice from the experienced domainers here!

It's not safe to reg anymore Meta domains, due to Facebook trademark, many users know there will be association to Meta Facebook, so registering Meta domains after their TM now is a risk.
However Meta is a widely used word in many things, but the association it creates with Meta FB is deteriorating the desire to have such brand or website, you basically will do free marketing for this Meta Reptiloid of Zuckerberg.
You can still register Metaverse domains, but the euphoria train have passed due to the mentioned above.

Hi,
This really is a subject where you just have to read and learn over time. Search for "trademark" and "UDRP". We're lucky to have IP lawyer @jberryhill as a member here. Read his posts - he's one of the best in the business.

Welcome to np, good luck (y)
