I believe only short and easy-to-remember domain names are sustainable, regardless of where in the world you live and which cultural background you come from.

Now that the Chinese domain market has become a hot topic, I myself want to understand this trend too. Is there any real meaning behind each domain name sold in China? Here, I'd like to share with you what I've found as I read the Chinese news everyday.

GZX.com
GZX can stand for 更自信 (even more self-confident) which can be used in many fields such as education, self-help, and even consumer products to raise your self image.

XLY.com
XLY can stand for 夏令营 (summer camp) or 新领域 (new field) which can be used in recreation and high-tech products.

Thank you for starting this thread Chinamobi....
What is your opinion on the following
jsvsj.com (Jiangsu JS )
Thanks for your kind words, but I don't know. The letter "v" is a challenge for me as I can't find any good Chinese character for it.

Xiaomi's official website is now MI.com. According to one of the founders Wan Qiang LI, "In ecommerce, short domain names are conducive to higher user traffic. They make it easy for users to remember and come to visit."

I did a search using Baidu and found MI.com listed on the first page instead of the formerly used name Xiaomi.com.

As I said earlier, I'm still new on Chaomi so please bear with me. I'm still learning how to interpret its data.

I just checked the site again for the sales (actually BIN prices) on Nov 24.

4L com (四字母COM) is 2,899 RMB
There is also another category 4 Initials (四声母COM) 15,800 RMB (maybe I'll add this one to the chart because these domain names are in high demand apparently.

Oh I wasn't criticizing Kassey I just was making sure I was not going nuts, I think the 4 Initials that is what we know as 4Letter .com 15,800 makes sense that converts to $2,488.

"Numeric King" Xiao He WANG just sold 568.com. The name contains the lucky numbers 6 and eight, which are placed in the ascending order to symbolize going up. 568 can stand for 我又发 (I'm going to make a fortune), a very popular name in China. The name can be used for games, investment, securities, and trading.

Wang is well known in the domaining circle. He particularly favors numerics, owning premium domain names such as 99.cn, 350.com, and 022.com

The biggest online florist chain in China, 爱花居 (Ai Hua Ju), just started using the domain name Hua.wang. The domain name has just one Chinese character Hua(花 or flower) which is easy to remember and enter into the browser. The extension .wang ranks No. 3 in new gTLD with close to 600,000 registrants. It means "net" so "flower net" is easy to remember for a flower ecommerce site.

YYB.com was sold. Seller acquired the domain name in an overseas auction back in June this year for 68k USD (420k RMB) and sold it within only a few months for 7 figures.

YYB belongs to the AAB type. It's simple, easy to remember, and can stand for

应用宝 (Treasure in apps)
英语班 (English class)
影印本 (Photocopy)
银元宝 (Silver ingots)

In particular, the term 应用宝 is already being used by Tencent in its mobile apps store using the subdomain sj.qq.com currently.
