I'm simply curious and speculating this appraisal. It won't influence or dictate any decisions. I recognize that pricing is subjective and depends on what a buyer is willing to Pay. Thanks!

Did you recently buy the domain? The domain resolves to the Dan sold page.

fuckbuds sold for $2000 on Sedo at the end of 2017. I would have expected something closer to mid to high $xxx.

im now checking, and you’re right fuckbuds.com sold for $2,000 and Fuckbud.com sold for $2,300 , might be the same Person or company. Could be a safety thing

Like you suggest, it's most likely a measure of securing the brand.

The main issue with the domain is that it would be very difficult to market. Brands like OnlyFans and Tinder can easily be mentioned in YouTube videos and whatnot, but a brand like FuckBud would have to be censored or limited to an age-verified demographic. It's also an incredibly difficult market to access or compete for.

Yeah I get what you mean by the marketing Perspective, but they’re has been crazier, and edgy’er names sold for more. As seen on sedo.com

I'm sure there has, but individual sales mean little when presented without the context of sales listings for the niche. It's a bit like using a winning lottery ticket as evidence for the playing lottery being a profitable venture.

If you were an entrepreneur with the funds and resources to set up a hook up service, what brand name would you and your marketing consultants come up with?

FuckBud hits a bunch of good notes: it's short (both in letters, words, and syllables), it's memorable. But what prevents it fuckbud.com from being a premium domain is its lack of marketing potential.

So I'm siding with draco's appraisal here.

I was tempted to reply straight away. It's actually a very good domain for advertising personal link-ups on existing porn-sites. Sure it's not for main stream media. For those that are looking for local connections there's a hell of a lot of this about these days. I think around $2000 is very reasonable. I could see it selling for a lot more. Of course it's basically just online prostitution. With a name like this, the client is going to bypass the original link page and go straight to the Directory.

Not me Mum, honestly

$900 to $2100 = Reseller Value Speculation (NOT an end user speculation)

  • Fuckbud 2017 vs. Today:
The marketability and valuation of a domain like "Fuckbud.com" would be influenced by these changing attitudes and regulations. While the domain might have enjoyed more freedom in operation and marketing in 2017, today it faces stricter scrutiny and potential limitations on mainstream advertising platforms.

Digital Content Standards

2017:
  • Content standards were evolving, with platforms starting to take a more active role in content moderation. There was an increasing push towards transparency and user safety, but the mechanisms and policies were still in development.
Today's Climate:
  • Content moderation has become more sophisticated, with advanced algorithms and community guidelines designed to detect and regulate explicit content. This has impacted the visibility and accessibility of adult-oriented sites.
  • There's a higher standard for privacy and data protection, partly due to regulations like the GDPR in Europe, affecting how websites collect and handle user data.
  • Low Range: If facing significant regulatory challenges and limitations in advertising reach, the domain could be valued in the lower range, potentially a few thousand dollars to niche buyers or investors.
  • High Range: For a buyer with a clear plan to navigate regulatory, legal, and societal challenges, leveraging the domain's directness and memorability within its niche, the value could be significantly higher, possibly reaching tens of thousands of dollars depending on specific strategies for monetization and community engagement.
