Surfers are aware of .coms, .nets, .orgs, .xyzs and similar extensions, and hopefully they will remember the extension as part of the domain name. How about domains that are a two word keyphrase, and the extension is the second word though? I've got this problem with my gold domain. When you type "English.gold", the dot is pretty small, and I suspect that surfers don't notice it. "English [dot] gold" looks cumbersome, but I'm considering using it in a couple of heading on the page. Is there a better way to make the name memorable?
