Is there any spell checker available on NP? If not, any plans for one?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Your web browser or OS should provide one. If you misspell a word, your browser will typically underline it or suggest a correction unless you've changed the settings.

Thanks forthe response. The spellchecker option on gmail is excellent. It checks while you write. Not so on Namepros, so I'll check into the browser/OS issue.

The spellchecker on Gmail is at least partially custom, but it's currently infeasible for us to offer a custom spellchecker of that caliber.

I thought most spell checkers imbed themselves quite nicely with namepros, they certainly do for me

They should, but when you've got Google's size and scale, it can make sense to do additional spellchecking server-side. That way, you get the benefit of huge datacenters full of servers and billions of data points. That's invariably going to be more powerful than anything your computer or phone can do.

While it would be possible for us to offer something comparable, we don't have Google's massive datacenters, so we'd have to outsource it to a third-party service; that means sending everything everyone types to a third party, but we're not too keen on doing that (and we doubt you are, either).

Grammarly is also a top-notch solution for people who are not native-speaker.
And OP/others can use it on mobile, as well as on any other page.
Love it.

When it comes to using online spell checker extensions in web browsers, there are some privacy risks to be aware of. When you enable an online spell checker, everything you type in the browser is transmitted to a third party. This includes not only regular text but also sensitive information that should ideally remain encrypted. Yes, that means your passwords are part of the data sent to these third parties.

If you'd rather not have your personal data transmitted to a third party, consider disabling the enhanced spellcheck feature in the browser, and do not install any external spellcheck add-ons.

Agree, instead use www.deepl.com/write
without any sensitive data, of course.
