information Clutter Finally Acquires Clutter.com

Spaceship Spaceship
Back in May of this year, Elliot Silver posted a story about Clutter - an innovative storage service that had just raised $2 million in funding. I came across the company again on Crunchbase earlier this week after they had successfully raised a further $9 million in Series A Funding.

What was more interesting than the funding was the domain that was listed on their Crunchbase biography: Clutter.com. Elliot's article in May was based around the fact that Clutter.com was definitely not for sale.

In fact, the then-owner of Clutter.com had even gone so far as to publicly state that the domain was not for sale, calling out the company who had tried so many times to acquire it. Here is a statement that was posted on Clutter.com at the time:
This guy is really persistent in wanting the clutter domain – if you have a mess, help him sell his de-clutter services at www.clutter.io (I have not used his services, but he seems nice enough).”

The acquisition seems to have taken place around the 19th of September of this year, and although the price hasn't been revealed, we can speculate that the fee had to be fairly big in order to convince the owner to sell.

Clutter.com now redirects to Clutter.io, but all email addresses for the company's staff seem to have been moved to clutter.com, and I'd expect to see a re-branding fairly soon. The company also owns clutterstorage.com.

It seems that persistency really pays off! Companies are still interested in buying the best .COM domain names possible for their brands, as is evident in my ongoing Inside Interviews series on NamePros.com. I have asked the new Clutter.com owner to take part in an interview, but so far there has been no response.

Congratulations to Clutter on finally acquiring Clutter.com.

Interesting read. Thanks for sharing.

Nice acquisition and lesson for newbies like me, i.e., "learn to say no" when you are confident that the domain has more value (or you can get more money for it, lol).
