An FYI for anyone invested in dot-ai emojis:

The operator over at the .ai registry recently upgraded his system. Unfortunately, the new system does not allow for double-hyphens in a domain name, thus rendering all registered IDN and emoji domains useless for renewals or sales.

The long and short of it is, currently you can continue using your domain until its expiry. But that's it. It's not like the dot-com versions, where previous emojis are grandfathered and allowed to renew. So don't buy any .ai emojis off anyone, and hopefully you will do the right thing and not try to sell them.

Depending on when you purchased your emoji, you may be able to ask the registry operator (Vince) for a refund. He's a decent fella, just communicate with him.

This means the only two extensions left that allow for new emoji registrations are .ws and .to.
